I'm 24. Let's say I wanted to have a shot at the Olympics, in any sport, at some point in the future. Are my chances over? Is there a sport I could start now, dedicate the next few years to, and become good enough to be a contender? What sport should that be? (I'm not picky.) [more inside]

New examples of these types of sites pop up every day, so it's hard to keep track of the best of the best, but what are some of MeFi users' favorite sites to take a look at upcoming events of all kinds, including concerts, art exhibitions, festivals, arthouse/revival film showings, etc? I haven't had a day off from work in over 3 weeks. I've just finished a major project, am about to start another, and would like to take a single day to recharge my batteries first. The problem: I have no idea what to do with the day I'm giving myself. So, what should I do with my free day, Metafilter? What would you do with a free day right about now?

Does anyone know where can I find free plans for marking games onto a playground surface? We're working on revamping the playground at my kid's school. We want to paint some games like hopscotch and four-square onto the surface but I'm having trouble finding standard measurements to do this. Does anyone have a suggestion or a link that would be helpful?

This weekend (Friday, actually, hopefully before the rain), we will be taking 6 kids out for a campfire on the beach. The problem is that we don't know where we can do this. We live in Marin County, north of SF, and would prefer a place up here. Any place here or in SF will do, though. Any recommendations? Any thoughts on where I should look to find out if we can have a beach campfire?
