We want to record students giving presentations and give them a copy of the video afterwards for later review. The camera would be fixed in some way to the room (either to the ceiling or one of the walls) and connected to a computer where the recording would be done. What kind of camera would work? Can this be done on the cheap (as in not in the thousands of dollars)? If not, what alternatives exist?

I'm the "everything that runs on electricity" technical advisor for a local band. We're in the process of wrapping up the first CD, and the recording set up is killing us. Am I missing something here with the Presonus Firestudio? How can we just finish editing the CD without it crashing every hour?

I want to record baseball games which often take 3~4 hours. I've tried a Radio Shark to record directly into my computer, but I can't seem to get the reception that I can get with a tuner and a cassette deck. I've tried to find a dual cassette deck that records in auto~reverse on BOTH decks~they used to be common but it seems they're no longer made. Can you help me?

We have a satellite provider rather than cable tv. I recently bought from e-bay a Toshiba RD-XS235 which comes with a "TV Guide" feature built in, unlike my previous Toshiba recorder, an RD-XS32SU (the drive of which is giving out after extensive use). The reviews say that there is a "manual recording" feature, and I looked up the owners' manual online and found the relevant page, but the directions do not seem to work. Is that because I need to allow a few hours for the TV Guide feature to attempt to "kick in"? The manual says to "turn it off overnight for the TV Guide programming to take effect." It WON'T take effect because we no longer use a cable provider. I prefer the manual programming anyhow. Does anyone in the hive mind know how to manually program the RD-XS235? My frustration is running high right now! Any and all advice is welcome! Thanks, techies.

But -- he fell in love with the studio, all those toys, sucked the life right out of this record.
I've had a copy two days, I need to call him and tell him I love the record. But I don't.
