Would you recommend some very high fidelity nature sounds recordings? I am especially interested in ocean waves / beach sounds. The 1080p stuff on youtube is just not cutting it. And it's impossible to tell the audio quality of CD samples. The higher the quality the better.
I need to find the best way to connect more than one microphone (probably two but it could be up to four) to a Mac laptop. I don't need studio quality but will be capturing voices and I'd like them to sound decent. The signal from the mics would need to be seen by Flash, for teleconferencing, and by the basic Apple OS applications (Quicktime, Garage Band, etc.) Is it possible to connect more than one USB microphone at a time, perhaps through a hub? If not, is there a simple external digital mixer that I can use? Is there an on-line store that specializes in this type of audio? And is the a wireless USB option?

I'm looking for the cheapest and/or easiest way to capture and compile segments of certain television news and comedy shows in full HD from a standard set-top box, then export them as a single HD presentation (either as a file or maybe as a Blu-ray disk). Luckily, I'm not starting completely from scratch. I already have MacBook Pro (2010) Final Cut Studio (the 2006 release I think but certainly not the most current version) and Adobe Creative Suite CS5 Master Collection. What more do I need (some type of capture device I assume) and what's the best workflow given the heavy duty software package? This project is NOT intended for any kind of sale or public distribution but instead is part of a school project.

Best solution for recording phone interviews. Here's my equipment: iPhone, MacBook, iPad. I'm a blogger, and I've been recording my interviews into a recording app on my iPad, or into garageband on my mac, using my iPhone on speakerphone. I'd prefer to not use speakerphone, as it cuts out and sounds like a walkie-talkie. I have an important interview coming up, and I'd like to up my game audio fidelity-wise without buying any other gear. What's my best solution?
I have an iPad2, a Peavy PV10 mixing board, several reasonable microphones (sm57, e835), and many acoustic and electric instruments. I do not have a computer that is anything other than ancient. I am recording a list of names on Audacity. Usually, when I go wrong, I know I've gone wrong. I'd like to be able to rewind to where I was about to go wrong and re-record over the wrong one, rather than adding a new version of the name after the wrong one then going back later to cut out the mistakes. So the ideal: "Peter, John, Rabbit" [rewinds to end of John] "Robert, Paul ... " and I end up with a tape saying "Peter, John, Robert, Paul ..." rather than "Peter, John, Rabbit, Robert, Paul ..." One mic or two? I am recording myself on the shakuhachi more and more these days, and I'm in the process of building up a recording set-up. I have one professional audio engineer friend who says I only need one mic, and another very knowledgeable friend who says I will definitely do better with two. My lack of knowledge about the subject knows no bounds, and much of the information online is confusing or incomplete. [more inside]
Thanks to the ever-wonderful advice of AskMeFi, I picked up a Mackie Onyx mixer which I've been using with Reaper to record a small band, and I am perfectly pleased. In order to hear ourselves live using the mixer's low latency, the audio out from the mixer is being piped out over unbalanced stereo that passes next to a wall full of electrical wiring and into a 1/4"-1/8" converter into the line-in of my computer's speakers. It is roughly as awful as it sounds. [more inside]
