Hi all,
I was wondering if you could recommend any podcasts that featured interesting, new and insightful music. Preferably ones that are by musicians or producers/recording engineers.
Thanks!

People I talk to on Skype claim to hear static coming from my end. I ran a test in Audacity and I could hear the static as well. The microphone I'm using is an MXL 990 and I'm using and Icicle Preamp (
This thing) to connect the mic to my laptop through USB. I'm copying over any and all specs that would help.
Here is the link.
I've tried disabling my internal mic and that didn't work. Before I got this laptop, I was using a laptop that had XP on it and it worked fine. I did spray febreeze in the room and on the mic so that everything would smell nice (I was trying to clean up the room). I tried using both my internal mic and another USB one and they worked fine. I also tried using a different USB cord to hook up my mic to my laptop and I was told there was static.
What should I do? I've been having this problem for a while now and it's starting to get on my nerves. Thanks in advanced.

I'm interested in making a new podcast/audio interview series for the web. What's the best way to integrate quality phone interview audio into my series, either using my existing podcasting equipment or with new equipment?

Help me find the right AV equipment to buy for my cultural events nonprofit! I throw literary events that are awesome and generally undocumented. Tell me what I should buy (cameras, software, mics) to visually convey a sense of their awesomeness. Bonus points on tutorials on making podcasts and workflow process for videos.

Starting a podcast (spoken word) and suddenly have the opportunity to interview the exact people I really shouldn't be "practicing" on. I'm a radiophile, want decent sound, but have no time to learn the technical side of sound recording before my interviews in a few days. Can I spend a little up front to make decent sound or do I just need to spend more?

I'm going to conduct an interview over Skype for a podcast. What (free) tools are at my disposal for recording and editing? Any advice gratefully appreciated.

I record university lectures for podcasting, but I'm finding I can't rely on plugging in to the lecture hall audio system to get a clean recording. Given I have a digital field recorder with XLR inputs, what sorts of equipment (mics, mixer, etc.) could I pick up for $500 total that could allow me to make a decent recording of a lecture?

Researching cheap and cheerful equipment (mics, mixers, etc.) for recording podcasts. The caveat: there will be several people in the podcast.

I am looking to get a mixer for my podcast, 300 bucks or less. I would like to get the Alesis IMULTIMIX8USB but I'm not sure if the recording to ipod is worth the extra 100 bucks. Can someone recommend a good usb or firewire mixer?

Oh, how I wish I could record in stereo, but as things stand, it's looking like it's going to have to be a mono-podcast. Help me get into both channels.
