Business, Murakami, DFW, and Music

Book suggestions for a gift exchange recipient that combine business, Haruki Murakami, David Foster Wallace, and/or music? (here's hoping my recipient isn't also a Mefite!) [more inside]

Poetry and dance

What songs fuse poetry or spoken word with music? The closest I can think of are Baz Luhrmann's "Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)" and Poe's "Hey Pretty". I'd be especially interested in mashups that do this.

Sexy-Creepy Songs

chococat calls his rendition of Fame "dirge-like"; I call it creepy-sexy-creepy. e.g. It's rather a turn on, even though it sounds just subtly too menacing or scary to be a turn-on, but that very quality is why it's a turn-on. Any other recommendations for similar songs? (The only other one I know that fits is Poe's Control.)

Robust Tablet PC - exists?

My laptop (an Acer Travelmate) just gave up the ghost after 3 years and a replaced (but still dodgy) hard drive. Any suggestions for laptops that can handle plenty of travel and being bumped around in bags? [more inside]

Alcohol for the New

I've just started drinking alcohol this year. Help me find a cocktail/drink that doesn't taste like cough syrup. [more inside]

"Oooh, look, an exotic native woman!" "Buzz off."

What are some good travel guide websites that aren't so Western-centric and don't treat other countries like exotic sights to gawk at? [more inside]

The Dangerous Book for Non-Boys

I've read "The Dangerous Book for Boys" and I generally love those kind of books (information about anything with guides on doing stuff). What other books are out there that are in a similar vein? I'm a 21-year-old girl but would rather not have a "girly" book.
