Please recommend a book or DVD for my Dad wants to learn to use computer basics.
My dad recently started using computer (windows XP) for the first time ever in his life. He is 60 yrs old and retired. He can open firefox, type in web address (of the few websites that he knows) and click on links in order to surf news website. Beyond that he pretty much doesn't know anything about computers.

Are there similar sites such as last.fm and the likes for other media types? I'm thinking sites which can recommend e.g. books and movies based on what I've recently read or watched.
I'd prefer non-commercial sites, thus eliminating amazon.com and sites which recommend other titles based on what other users also bought together with a selected book/movie.
Thanks.

A close friend and I are embarking on a collegiate radio adventure through the wrist-slittingly fun world of teenage problems and angst. We're developing a list of musical sub-themes and came to one we like in theory but don't have much material for: Eating Disorders! Does anyone know of any (any) any (any) songs about Eating Disorders? Please share!

I rarely pay attention to lyrics in a song - when I do, it's usually because of strong imagery or a really twisted message. I'd love to find songs now based on lyric recommendations - what are your favorites? Powerful, or hidden, or just especially memorable. And not limited to any particular genre nor subject, either. I just want songs that will make me pause and think over what I heard, rather than go "Ahh, pretty sounds!"

Best way to re-learn statistics? Enough that I wouldn't be lost in an advanced, fairly data-intensive psychology class. I took the course at Ga. Tech some years ago, but my old textbook is sooo boring and awful.

I'm leaving for Europe this week and will be gone for about two and a half weeks. I've got a bunch of family in Germany so they'll be showing me around there, but I'm also planning on going to Italy for approximately five days, give or take (no rigid schedule). I was hoping some people could give me some first hand recommendations on what would really make my experience a blast.

I live in Jerusalem and am going to Tel Aviv for the weekend. I really don't know the area, and am looking for:
1) A good day spa in Tel Aviv Yafo. My solid foam mattress is slowly killing my back, and I am in dire need of a good, strong massage.
2) Discotheque recommendation
3) Other recommendation? Anything? Cool place to visit, shop, good restaurant, anything. I live so close there's a good chance I'll come back too, so it doesn't have to all fit into a weekend.
Thanks

I know next to nothing about cell phones over the past year, but now find myself in the market. I need: simplicity, battery life, functionality most important is ease of use of phone including contacts import from outlook, calender syncing with outlook (my office doesn't seem to use the kind of MS exchange server that would easily allow that option), and occasional web browsing with maps for travel. what do folks recommend? I see Costco has a special today: free Blackberry Pearl with one year contract with Tmobile

My mom wants a book on French Indochina, and I'd like to find a good one for her. Preferably non-fiction, but good fiction with some insight into history and culture would work, too. The exact historical time range is flexible, but she's mostly interested in the area pre-Vietnam War.
