My Pentax K10D has finally become all but unusable, and a friend is giving me her Nikon D90 (body only). I have several lenses for my Pentax, and I'm looking for a good adapter. [more inside]
Looking for a digital camera recommendation. Something small and compact to take biking and hiking that is able to take action shots. [more inside]

So my parents have offered to buy me a camera amongst other things for my 30th birthday. I'm looking for a compact camera with a zoom function for under £40.00. Any recommendations? If you can buy it at Argos, even better.
I'm helping my mother buy a digital camera for her extended trip to Thailand and have exhausted dpreview.com and the various other review sites. I need real-people recommendations: she wants something with decent resolution (at least 3 mp; I hope for 4 or better); under $300 hopefully; decent battery life (we tried a Nikon Coolpix but the batteries didn't last long enough - the Canon Powershot s50 batteries lasted for 200 shots and lots of flash, but the camera is just out of her price range); compact flash, since I have a number of cards for her, and ease of use. And it has to work with an older iMac with os9. Any ideas?
What's the best digital camera in the $200-$300 range? Picture quality is the most important criteria for me, compactness #2. I have a lot of experience with traditional SLR photography and hate to not use my Nikon, but the quality /price ratio for digicams is finally getting reasonable (and the price of film development is getting worse by the day). Any advice would be much appreciated.
