My daughter needs to increase her vegetable intake, but refuses to eat most veggies. What recipes will allow us to disguise her vegetables in other foods? [more inside]
Due to circumstances beyond my control, I now am the proud owner of a jar of Patak's Madras Curry Paste (hot) and a jar of Patak's mild curry paste (coriander and cumin sauce base). I only have one recipe that uses the Madras Hot Curry Paste. Hoping someone on MeFi might be able to help out with recipes to use them up. I'm open to meat or vegetarian options, and have no allergies/diet restrictions. (Things that go well with rice appreciated.) [more inside]
Somehow, we're in a rut on dinner vegetables that our little guy will also like. Our staples are green beans, broccoli, brussel sprouts, and asparagus, though he doesn't like asparagus too often. Salad greens are still not to his liking. How can we bring some variety to our dinner greens? What are other good greens, and how can we quickly prepare them, or prepare on the weekend and store for the week? [more inside]
I need suggestions for lunches that I can take to college with me, in my backpack, that don't require an ice pack - I just don't have room. The lunch will be consumed within four hours or so. [more inside]
I have a 12 oz. mason jar of "pure sorghum, standard grade" (3/4 lb) that I bought a few years ago from a local farmers market. I opened it today, and it still looks good, I assume, because I've never actually used sorghum, and don't know what it might look like if it went bad. When I opened it I broke the seal, so I assume there's some chance of it still being edible, but StillTasty.com doesn't have anything for sorghum, commercial or homemade/packaged. So, 1) is it still good after a few years of being stored on a shelf, and 2) what should I do with it?
I am looking for the name of/recipe for a mysterious Polish cabbage dish i used to get from Sava Polish Deli in Jersey City. [more inside]
A friend of mine is having to be in the hospital for the next ten days or so. I've promised him I'll make him dinner when he's out, and his request is for Japanese comfort food. I've done some googling and ramen and/or miso soup was already going to be on the menu, but I'm really interested in vetted/actually-from-Japan recipes and I don't have enough knowledge of Japanese cuisine to evaluate them. A local Chinese restaurant makes the best tom yum vegetable soup I've ever tasted. I'd like to make it at home, but I don't have the recipe. [more inside]
I have a bunch of wild rice and a husband who doesn't like creamy soups, mushrooms, or seafood, which seems to knock out most of the signature wild rice dishes. I need some wild rice recipes that do not involve these things. Bonus points for vegetarian main dishes, one-pot meals that don't rely on meat as the sole protein source (though a bit of bacon or sausage for flavoring is always welcome), and crock pot recipes. I also try to avoid processed food, so, please, no recipes involving cans of condensed soup and/or packages of soup mix.
My favorite Chinese restaurant makes fantastic sesame tofu. I want to know how they prepare the tofu. [more inside]
I love cooking, but it's been a while since I've cooked on a regular basis (besides throwing together ingredients for salads and pastas) and even longer since I put together a proper meal with courses. I'm a pretty decent cook (and I have a list of favorite blogs, like Smitten Kitchen and 101 Cookbooks) but nothing's clicking, and I want recipes that are complicated and fun and delicious for a change of pace! And so I turn to you, AskMetafilter: help me find awesome, vegetarian, delicious, adventurous dishes to usher in 2014. [more inside]
In a fit of limerance I told my new dating partner that I would make them a birthday cake of their choice since their birthday falls on Christmas Eve and they never get one. They want something chocolate and decadent. I used to bake all the time so I have the skills but life stress has zapped my energy. What are your easiest and most decadent chocolate cake recipes so I can please her in the spirit that I intended?

How do I cook the best turkey (and) and fixings meal for just myself (for a whole weekend)? I'm basically going to put on some Abba, and eat like crazy this weekend. So tell me how I can make the best Thanksgiving turkey and sides! Oh, this is anonymous because I am a vegetarian for moral reasons. Also, I prefer to limit it to just one type of animal, so no bacon wrapped shrimp. Probably no bacon wrapped shrimp. Recipes of good sides preferably not using just turkey.

So it's rhubarb season and I've finally managed to buy a big batch, yay! I love the stuff and have been waiting for this all year. I usually make crumbles/stews, but am looking to push the boat out a little more this time to get the most out of it, finding new recipes and also ways to preserve for when it's no longer around (jams, in alcohol, freezing?). What are your favourite recipes and what other things have you found pair well with it? Have you ever made booze with rhubarb? I'd be grateful for any tips, and thank you in advance!

Somebody left a crazy old battered aluminum bundt cake pan on my doorstep, all neatly packaged and wrapped and tied up with li'l ol' lady knots. Now, on my own I would have lived my whole life without ever buying or acquiring a bundt cake pan. I don't even get bundt cake. Why the hole in the middle? It's never made any sense to me. However, Fortuna has apparently decided I need a bundt cake pan, so I've decided to roll with the fate thing and make a bundt cake. It is obviously your destiny to share your most fabulous bundt cake recipes and thereby unite our mystical bundt experiences for all eternity. Some restrictions apply... [more inside]
