I am really wary about buying a laptop with a non-user-replaceable battery. Opinions on this? How painful/possible is it to get such batteries replaced when they fail?

Rechargeable batteries: Any difference between NiMH batteries purchased in Europe vs. US? I have several AA batteries I bought in Eur for my camera, but I don't have my charger with me in the US.
1. If I buy a charger in the US, can I charge the batteries I bought in Europe?
2. When I go back to Europe, is it OK to use the US charger on the European current with just an adaptor for the plug?
I just want to make sure I don't (a) start any fires! or (b) damage the batteries.
The batteries I have are all either 2000 or 2650.
thanks for your help!

If I put rechargeable batteries (batteries, not a battery pack) in an Xbox 360 controller, and plug in the charge wire that is typically used for their battery packs, what will happen to my rechargeable batteries? Will they actually recharge? Will nothing happen?

Does this camera exist? If not, what comes closest? Slim, lightweight digital camera that 1) can be set to do
exposure bracketing of every shot, 2) uses either full-size SD or CF cards [not Memory Sticks], and 3) has an internal battery that charges via a standard mini-USB jack.
