Do I have a chance of making it in D.C.? I'm a recent college grad with no political resume and a pretty meager amount of work experience, but I'm smart, have great references/recommendations, and am not particularly picky about where I work. [more inside]

Is it possible to disable the "most visited / recent history" tab in the Google Chrome browser? I can set Chrome so that it loads a blank page on startup, but when opening a tab it displays all my most visited sites. This inspired one very embarrassing moment when a friend unconsciously CTRL-Tabbed and saw a glaring menu of my darkest internet meanderings. Several sites claim to be able to solve this but no instructions I have yet followed have made any difference.

What are the recent jazz standards? Prototypically, jazz standards are from the '40s—let's guess the median is somewhere around 1945 and the standard deviation is 15 years—but the canon is certainly not closed, as shown by, say, 'Birdland' (1977). What else has become really widely known and played, in that time frame or since? Please cite a few performers to justify your claim. Bonus points if they're in different styles or decades.
