I'm looking for games that progress in real time, similar to Farmville on Facebook. They can be browser-based or on XBox 360.

I used to play Ogame at ogame.org, in which you mine for resources that you need to build a starfleet in order to go raid other planets. The really impressive ships would take days at a time to complete. The problem with Ogame (besides the stupid name) was the level of attention it required lest some hardcore player raid your fleet when you least expect it. So basically I'd like something a little more casual, like Farmville, which I find kind of addicting (today I made a block M out of maize and blueberries).

If you don't know exactly what I mean, I'm looking for other games that sort of do their work while the player is not present. For example, in Farmville, you plant your crops, and, say, 8 real life hours later, they have grown and can be harvested. Do you know any games that use a similar mechanic?

Me Make Pretty Web Stats Animated Stuff One Day

Me Make Pretty Web Stats Animated Stuff One Day, A.K.A. Why doesn't Invigorate do AJAX web stuff anymore?! So, I'm trying to figure out a cool visual way to display real-time accesses to our assorted websites on a big flatscreen TV in our elevator bay. Ideally it would be able to feed from Google Analytics, but a different solution would be okay too.

It should be pretty to look at and be in the format of a 'lifestream' type thing to track when we get activity on our sites. I would show google analytics charts but they are not flashy enough, also we have people coming in to the office from all over and i'd rather not give them a full glimpse into our traffic trends.

I've seen VisitorVille but its a little cheesy for this use.

Does anyone make a product like this?

Linux-really-tricky?

What's the deal with linux-rt? I know that it's Linux with realtime extensions, and that it's recommended for low-latency audio editing. I'm planning on doing some recording for a while (hopefully with something better than my built-in mic) and I'm wondering if apt-get install linux-rt will be more trouble than it's worth. And fyi: Using a Thinkpad T42 w/ Ubuntu 7.10

People scanning books with their PDAs, what's going on?!

I was at a massive used booksale in Phoenix, Arizona today. I saw at least ten 20-something people with Treos and/or PocketPCs with barcode scanners scanning in tons of books.. it looked like they were doing real-time queries to some server getting book values and stuff like that. Who / what / where is going on? Is this a massive business or is this a new fad that young punks to now ... or what?

tab characters in my textarea

HTML + javascript question. Changing the text-cursor position of a textarea? Im writting a development tool - real time HTML and CSS editing. im trying to give the textarea the tab key back (insert a tab character rather than switching to the next item in the tab order). So far so good. The tool traps the tab key, inserts the tab character in the appropriate location - but the text cursor is then placed at the end of the text. Really annoying

have a look at it here:

PS - firefox only :)

Any good interactive, real-time online whiteboard programs?

Any input on whiteboard applications (I found Robin Good's guide)? I'm focusing more on the interactive, real-time online whiteboard (not necessarily application sharing which I know how to do with VNC).
