What is the best ergonomic setup for reading heavy (literally!) books for long periods of time? Are some chairs better than others? How high should the table ideally be? What kind of lighting is best - direct, indirect, or something else? Are there other helpful tools (eg something to hold the book flap down as you're reading)?
If you're a grad student or academic, how do you read new articles and books? Do you take notes/marginalia? Do you read some parts systematically and skim/ignore the rest? Read each piece multiple times? Do you find you learn more from reading than from talking with others or attending presentations? Please indicate what field you're in.
What have been the most influential articles and books in psychology (esp. articles)? Any amazing reading lists, or anthologies? I'm talking the whole gamut -- social, developmental, clinical, physiological, cognitive, etc. -- and only the most universally acknowledged important works. Thanks!
