Would this OS/RAM/VM trick work, you think? Linux seems to allow this PC mobo double the RAM XP shows as possible; can I VM XP on a Linux host and split the RAM between the two? [more inside]

Ramming Speed! Or ramming systems anyway.

I've got 32bit windows XP. I also have 8 gigs of Ram. The windows specs say it'll only recognize 4 gigs. Other than converting to windows vista, is there any way to get my machine to recognize and use the other four gigs of ram?

How much memory can my computer hold?

How much memory can my computer hold? My computer specs: Dell XPS 600 OS: WinXP Professional 5.1 SP2 (Build #2600) CPU: Intel Pentium D , 2.99 GHz, 1024KB Video: NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX (1920x1200x32bpp 60Hz) I went on crucial.com and their scanner said my computer can have up to 8 gigs of memory but a friend of mine told me that XP can actually only hold 3 gigs of ram. How true is this? I currently have 2 gigs of ram and I was looking to go as high as 5 mainly because I work with After Effects a lot and rendering is a pain in the ass. Thanks in advance everyone.

Did my new RAM kill my video adapter?

BSODFilter: I tried to install a RAM upgrade in my girlfriend's Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop, and got nothing on screen after powerup. So I replaced the old DIMM, and got the BSOD -- the file that was missing was a driver for the Intel video adapter. Long story short, it's still not working. [more inside]

I'm building a new PC running WinXP. Someone tells me XP won't see or use anything over 4GB of RAM. True or false?
