I've always adored biking in the rain for leisure but now that I'm commuting I actually need to look presentable when it is raining. Should I give up trying to stay dry and bring my work clothes with me and change when I arrive? Or should I splurge on some high quality waterproof gear?
I need to get a good backpack for college. For the first time in my life, I will be walking (and perhaps biking) to get around. I need something that will keep my books and laptop dry. Bonus points for a backpack that I could comfortably wear on bicycle trips. [more inside]
I ran across a travelogue a while back of two young women going on a long bicycle tour in the Eastern U.S. in the 1930s or 1940s. I think they started from Pennsylvania or another nearby state and originally intended to go west, but ended up going south. On the return trip, I think they took a boat up the Mississippi or another major river. Does this ring a bell? [more inside]
