Why exactly is the appeal of those notorious four chords in pop music? I hear them everywhere, and I am starting to lose my shit.

"I own a Sony ICF-C113V bedside clock-radio that receives television signals from the soon to be obsolete VHF channels (2-13). Does anyone know if there is a clock-radio solution on the market yet that receives the audio portion of the DTV television signals in a clock-radio footprint? I have an iHome which I use as my primary clock-radio for alarms and music (iPod), but would still like the option to listen to television periodically."

I'm going to Germany on 21 May. I've been told (by Germans) that my German is good, but I'd still like to do a bit of immersion before I go to get used to hearing it, etc. I'd particularly like to listen to some German radio. Any favorite stations?

There's a website out there that aggregates operational radio transmissions (similar to coastguard radio, police radio, that kind of thing). I'd like to create an iphone app that aggregates the feeds.
Am I allowed to use the websites streams? Do they have any legal ownership over the streams despite the fact that they're publicly broadcast and can be picked up on any receiver?

What's this song? It was on US Top 40 radio in the late 80s. It's a mashup sorta thingie of musical styles, starting out with a big band playing "In the Mood" and moving forward through different popular music styles to the modern day. IIRC at the very end there is a brief return to a little bit of In the Mood.

Can anyone recommend a WinXP-friendly solution -- ideally shareware, freeware, or open source -- for automatically recording online radio streams such as shoutcast at pre-selected times, a few times a week? I currently use a WinAmp plugin that does recording manually, breaking the tracks up into individual mp3s, but I would like to automate the process for particular broadcasts.

A while back I had a job as a radio archivist and I dubbed a few episodes of a very trippy British serial that I believe originally aired on the BBC during the late '70s or early '80s. It involved some sort of quest for knowledge, had Buddhist (or at least eastern spiritual) overtones and was often accompanied by psychedelic background music. Anyone have any idea what the name of this series might have been?
