Using your smartphone, can you listen to online live radio while walking around your city? I'm trying to do this (with my iPhone, in Paris) and it only works if I stay in one place; if I move more than about 500m, it usually disconnects. I'm curious to know if others have the same experience so that I can determine if it's my carrier, the phone, the city, or just general limitations of 3G GSM networks. (Note: I'm not talking about Pandora or Spotify; I'm referring specifically to live radio streams which can't buffer minutes ahead).

I can get World Cup on broadcast TV through Univision, but the audio is... en Espanol. Searches for sports radio has all been boring sports shows. Is there any good (preferably radio based) English language solution? NYC Area.

Last year or so, I listened to a radio show on NPR that aired. The basic premise of the show (I think) was very similar to This American Life and was an eclectic mix of interviews of regular old folks, to talking about issues related to living life in general. One of the episodes dealt with two sisters who had run away and they told their story through a series of vignettes about their experiences. Another episode (I think) was an interview of siblings who are gay. The show was only about an hour long each week, but ended up being cancelled due to $$ issues (it's not News & Notes or Day to Day, I've already checked). I'm trying to figure out what the show was!! Any ideas? It was a very grassroots-ey type, low-budget, etc.
Thanks MeFi!

I want to record baseball games which often take 3~4 hours. I've tried a Radio Shark to record directly into my computer, but I can't seem to get the reception that I can get with a tuner and a cassette deck. I've tried to find a dual cassette deck that records in auto~reverse on BOTH decks~they used to be common but it seems they're no longer made. Can you help me?

CBC Radio had a program on an old Quebec library (I think - in Montreal) - that dates from the 1800's and is supposed to be absolutely stunning. Something that people would envision being right out of Harry Potter. Unfortunately - I could not make out the name of the Library - and lot's of googling has come up with nothing. Does anyone here know if the Library in question?

I have a CentOS server with a directory of some MP3s. What is the easiest way to have a radio stream setup so I can listen to them at work or on my phone? I looked at Shoutcast and it seems perfect, but I can't seem to figure out how to get it to randomly pick something from a directory of music instead of connecting to Winamp on a host machine.

My amplifier/receiver died. I need something inexpensive (~$200) but powerful to replace it. I am not an audiophile but like my music to sound good. Should I get a simple amplifier and an HD radio tuner or troll eBay for a used receiver? I have two sets of speakers plus woofer and need about 100W per channel. Need three or four inputs. Don't need fancy 5.1 or anything. Recommendations?
