I want to get a rack for surfboards for my 2012 Subaru Impreza Sedan (not the hatchback). I will need some aftermarket racks and there is no Subaru install for this model.
I've seen offers from Rhino, Thule and a few others. Which one do you recommend?
How hard is it to install?

At my place of employment, I have been charged with physically securing our two servers. The decision has been made to bolt them to the concrete floor in a cage. I don't know how to shop for a server rack. We have an old one that they're on now, but it's an open rack, without sides or locks. I need one that's more of a cage, to keep people without the key out. It'll have to fit at least 8U worth of servers, and also accommodate a midsized tower somehow, and be 1000mm deep minimum.
How do I shop for this? I can't find any information on whether any of the racks I'm looking at are bolt downable.

I just bought a roof rack for my bike. Without some kind of alarm in place, I will drive into the garage with bike on the roof. I will destroy the bike and damage my house and I want to avoid this. I need some kind of directed sensor such that when the bike breaks the line of the sensor a light flashes to remind me not to drive into the garage with the bike on my roof. Any ideas along these lines or better?

I have a specific question about transporting my Rans Tailwind Recumbent Road Bike in my trailer using fork traps that I attached to the trailer myself. My question is whether or not I need to take the seat off the bike before I transport it at highway speeds. See inside for more details and pictures. [more inside]

Is it possible to purchase a rear pannier rack for this bike, I have looked at standard bike shop racks and haven't found one that fits. Where would I purchase one of these racks (I'm in Melbourne until Thursday) and how much am I looking at paying? [more inside]

What do you call the metal bars that have two flat parts with a 90 degree angle with screw holes on both sides? I'm thinking of getting some and cutting them to the lengths I need but I have no idea what they're called, any other information on Erector Set like prefabricated elements would also be appreciated. I gave my '07 Honda Civic to a mechanic who said it needed a replacement of the steering rack and/or pump, which he did. Problem: aftermarket XM radio was working perfectly before it went in, antenna had intermittent short which prevented radio from getting signal at least 50% of the time when I got it back. I have a 2005 Ford e150 van. I am going camping tomorrow and it would be nice to throw the clothes and sleeping bags on a roof rack. Yet the Yakima and Thule options seem terribly overpriced, and given the vehicle it should be obvious that fashion is not an issue.
Is there a functional rack that I can get from a bricks-and-mortar retailer that costs <$300 and doesn't involve suction cups? [more inside]

Battery shelf manufacturers: I need links to manufacturers of steel battery shelves for large DC UPS applications, for use with AGM VRLA lead acid batteries such as 2V 600aH to 1200aH and 6V 220aH to 600aH+ sizes. Batteries will be Rolls or a competitor. The shelves should knock down into something that can be flat packed and reassembled at an installation site. Features for earthquake bracing and shock mounting are also useful. Where do the US RBOCs buy their shelves?

Anybody know the make and model of a bike rack that can be used on the rear end of a VW New Beetle? I know Volkswagen makes a top-mounted rack accessory, but I don't want to be lifting my heavy bikes up that high. Bonus points if you have successfully mounted it on your own Beetle in this lifetime. Holding 2 bikes would be fine, 3 would be even better.
