There's this Facebook thing. A question will be asked like "Name a city without the letter E in the name. Bet you can't!" or some other equally easy question. 8032324089 people will then comment "Um, Atlanta! OMG This is so easy how stupid do u think i am?" People jump all over them to show how smart they are. What's the point of these things? [more inside]

Any recommendations for shows similar to University Challenge and Only Connect? I think what I love about these is how non-showbiz they are. It's just people who have exceptional breadth of knowledge and enjoy competing for its own sake. TV, radio, anything is welcome.

I'll be appearing on a tough UK based TV based quiz show soon. I was looking for a book that is a compendium of useful general knowledge, quizzing type facts for revision! Categories such as all the US presidents in order, British monarchs , periodic table, UN secretary-generals, winners of Nobel prizes, state capitals, breakthroughs in science, Booker prize winners etc etc..? Hi Mefites: I'm looking for a free/cheap web service that allows me to ask someone a few multiple choice questions via a survey and then be able to give them a text-based diagnostic (not a numerical score). Something similar to this, via Buzzfeed, where they ask a few multiple choice questions and at the end, they give you a pre-written response to how you've answered. [more inside]
I am currently working with a local nonprofit to create a new grant program focused on community engagement. This organization serves primarily as a funding intermediary, raising funds and distributing them as grants to other nonprofits throughout the region. They actually have a number of existing grant programs that already require varying levels of community engagement, education, and/or outreach, and have tasked me with creating a self-assessment tool to pair potential grantees to the most appropriate grant(s). I'm thinking I need a tool that would help me create something similar to those personality quizzes you find online, but I am finding it difficult to know what resources exist for this and how I should format the thing. My husband and I used to LOVE playing Buzz Quiz World on PS3 against random folks online. This was a few years ago before we had kids. Recently, we tried to resurrect the fun, only to find no one else playing online. Upon doing a little research, we see that they're shutting down the Buzz Quiz World servers completely! My question is this: Does anyone have an online multiplayer "couch-to-couch" quiz or trivia game they love? Does anyone even know of a single one that exists anymore? I just read through a comprehensive list of all games expected to come out on the PS4, and... NOTHING. Am I just an old, old lady? Buzz Quiz World was so much fun...
I need to organize a pub quiz in Richmond VA for next February in advance of a wedding. Can you recommend venues that might welcome the crowd? The pub quiz would be open to the public.
What's the best way to have a document turned into a fill-in-the-blanks quiz? In other words, I'm looking for a program that will remove key words from a document for the purpose of memorization. Ideally, it would avoid filler words like "and," "of," or "for," etc.
I want to do a quiz that encourages having a guess above getting the exact right answer. What I'm looking for is a collection of questions and answers where the answer is some estimable number. [more inside]
Ten years or so ago, I played (the predecessor to) this now defunct quiz. Basically, there was a list of questions each week. You answered as many as you could and emailed in your answers with explanations/justifications (plus an entry fee of a question for a future quiz). Is there something similar out there now? I run a monthly Pub Quiz and I have a website, running on Wordpress which I use for announcing upcoming quizzes, publishing results and past questions / answers. At the moment I publish the questions and answers (50 per month) as separate blog posts with a category of Question or Answer tagged with the month and year. Is there a smarter, more intuitive way of doing it? [more inside]

I need to build a website where part of the functionality is to provide a weekly or biweekly quiz, and if all of the answers are correct, a certificate is provided to download and print. Ideally, the quiz takers name would be on the certificate as well. And it would be super fabulous if it integrated well with joomla or wordpress, but at that point I'm probably asking for magic ponies dipped in dark chocolate, but figured I'd ask. Any suggestions?

A while back someone ran a personality test called The Cube on me. I've also played a similar game whereby each participant in turn says "I have never done [name of activity x goes here]" and the others around the table have to drink if they have done x. Can you recommend any other fun games, personality tests or quizzes that can be used in social situations, can be easily memorised, don't require much in the way of additional materials and help you get to know others better? School-age, juvenile stuff is perfectly acceptable!
