I have a job interview next week. Meanwhile, my current supervisor is anxious to start the work plan and budget process for 2012. I feel dishonest committing to projects that I have no intention of carrying out. I need my supervisor as a reference and I can't burn this bridge - how do I tell my boss I'm interviewing elsewhere?

I hate my job. I want to quit. Cannot find another job. My boyfriend owns a company. I could work for him. Need advice! I'm 27 and have been with my boyfriend and current job both for almost ten years. My job has been 4 years full time after I graduated. I do not make good money. There is no reward. I hate coming to work. I have started to do a bad job and am afraid I will get fired if I don't quit first. I am thinking about quitting to work for my boyfriend's company.

Did you quit a bad or unhealthy behavior? How did you do this? My grandfather smoked for years and then one day he just stopped. I hear about some people who have been terrible drunks and one day just quit - and never had another drink. How do they do this? Is it after the last drink or before the next one? Is there a moment when you just say "I'm not doing this anymore" and that's it?

I need to resign my job sometime on monday - I'm taking a position at another company. Through contracts and sub-contracts, I have at least 3 different "bosses" who work at three locations - I only sit at the same location as one boss (one of the others is fairly accessible). Is submitting a resignation by email to the off-site bosses acceptable to mainstream north american business etiquette?

I'm having trouble dealing with dissatisfaction with my first post-college job, which makes me feel more than a little over-entitled. My frank impression is that the workplace is in shambles and that I'd been lied to in the interview process; more charitably, I'm wondering if perhaps this particular posting just isn't for me. Given the details, what's the best way for me to go about readjusting my mind for the position, readjusting the position for my mind (i.e. closer to what I was told it would be), or giving up the ghost and going for something different?

I run a small charity that works with several hundred children with about 40 staff doing operations and two people working with me on fundraising and management. I'm unpaid and fulltime, and completely burnt out but it's not a job I can quit or handover immediately - I'm doing a transition to half-time, but it will take another six months, due to the specialised work. How do I stop myself from just setting fire to my desk one day?
