What can I tell myself to keep from complaining @ work?

I intend to leave my job in a few months. I would like to bite my lip and suck up any stupid stuff until then. Unfortunately, I have instead been complaining to my managers (never to fellow employees). I feel like I'm showing my hand for no reason and it's undignified. Next time, when I'm talking to my manager and feel frustrated, what are some things (mantras, poetry, general rational thoughts) I could tell myself to keep my thoughts to myself even if I'm certain it won't affect my employment?

Is quitting my job a good idea?

I left university with a decent degree in a scientific subject and got a job working in a related field in a hospital (I'm in Britain, so with the NHS) afterwards. I wasn't sure if this was the career I wanted so I decided to give myself a year to try it out. With the lease on my flat running out, I've realised the year is up, and now I'm starting to seriously question whether this is what I want to be doing, and whether it's worth finding another flat, or if it's better to quit this and try my hand at something else - maybe a PhD or a medicine conversion course. Me--planning to quit job. Work--planning grant funded projects for me.

[For folks that work in the non-profit sector] I feel at a loss for what to do. I work for a non-profit that I have been planning to leave for some time. I am taking the GRE this month, applying to schools and even applying for school-compatible part time jobs. At the same time, my non-profit is trying to pull itself out of a budget hole by applying for a multitude of grants. Most of the deliverables are things that I am supposed to deliver and the only other person left to deliver would be my immediate supervisor. I like my supervisor and don't know how she would even get all the work done if I left. My work would not be easily transferred to a new hire. I feel overcome with guilt as each new grant proposal goes out the door because I'm not planning on being around to do this work. I know it would be really dumb to say that before I have an offer in hand for school or a new job. What is the right thing to do? Should I let them build their plans around me when I'm not sure I'll be around? [more inside]

Am I crazy if I quit my job?

I hate my job, but it pays me well. Seriously, I make more than $130k, have great benefits (paid health insurance, 4 weeks vacation etc). I am very lucky to have landed this position. Without divulging too much more, lets just say that the industry I am in, it won't happen again. I will likely make 35% less anywhere else. So, I know that no one can truly answer this but me, but am I crazy for wanting to just walk away from it if I truly dislike it? [more inside]

Should I quit Americorps?

I am currently an Americorps VISTA member and I do not like my assignment. This is a year-long commitment, and I have @7 months left to serve. VISTA members work full-time but are paid very little because the position is kind of a cross between a volunteer position and a job. The reason for taking a VISTA position, therefore, is not the pay, but rather the job experience and the opportunity to do meaningful work to help the poor. Unfortunately, I am not getting much of that experience or doing much of that work, and I am disrespected to boot. [more inside]
