Where to take 10 years of Quicken data?

Quicken has always been overly complex for our needs. We have very basic financial management needs. First priority: import 10 years of spending history in Quicken and continue to categorize, track and report on all transactions from a half dozen accounts. Last priority: budgeting (so YNAB may not be for us?). Simple is better. [more inside]

Freelancers: What are your tips to make it easy to do expenses/taxes?

I work as a freelancer, and have done so for many years. Which means I need to track all my expenses for tax time. I'd like to spend as little time as possible on this, both week-to-week, and at the end of the year. I'm in Canada, if that affects things. [more inside]

There's nothing quick about it

One the nice things about Quicken is I can input the dates that bills are due. Quicken says it will try to correlate payment transactions in your bank account with the bills that are due so that it doesn't tell you a bill is overdue when you've already paid it. It doesn't do this at ALL. What gives? [more inside]

Intuit Forced Upgrades

I use Quicken, Quickbooks, and Bank of America. Right now they are working like a champ, but Bank of America has announced that they're pulling support for 2006 versions of both Quicken and Quickbooks. Normally this would be OK; I'm thrifty, but not so much so that I'd complain about $150 every three years. The problem is that all the versions to upgrade to have lots of problems; what to do? Quicken chanages my payees, why God why?

Quicken 2006 for Mac: when I download transactions, all checks (not other transactions) show up always paid to the same person--the wrong person, and the same (wrong) category. I can manually change the wrong info, but then it reverts when I "accept." I can again manually change it in the main register where it will stick. Any advice? [more inside]

Easy Money Management

I'm a college student, and I was looking for a (cheap) money management software package to manage my loans, credit card, and income from work. Does anyone know of a cheap one that works well? I was looking at Quicken, but that's 80 bucks and seems like overkill.
