Where can we go bushwalking near Melbourne that is accessible by public transport? Me and my friends desperately need to get out of the city for a day and go on a bushwalk. We have no access to a car and cannot afford to hire one right now, so where is a decent bushwalking track that has some nice views and will occupy us for at least 3 hours, that we can access via bus or train?

Can you recommend any sites which list (or allow easy searches for) villas/cottages/apartments in Europe that are accessible without a car? I've found a couple for Italy here and here - any other suggestions?

LongBeachFilter: With so much drama in the LBC, I'm looking for travel plans for my son and me But i, somehow, some way Gotta find something to do with him next Wednesday Next week my son (the six year-old who swallowed his tooth the other day) and I are heading out to Long Beach, California for a visit with my sister. We're staying through the weekend and there will be two days which I need to entertain my son by myself.

My son is interested in all the typical things that a boy his age would like; movies, music, dinosaurs, toys and doing things in the water. My interests are generally overlapping as long as there's some intellictual interests involved too. I'm looking for things to do using Long Beach public transport on Wednesday. What good beaches are nearby and what sorts of kid friendly activities will I find. If you have a suggestions please let me know what public transport I need to take to arrive at my destination.

I am in Philadelphia. My wife and I would like to travel from Reading Terminal Market to the zoo by public transportation. How do we best do it? Also, we would like to get to Citizens Bank Park via public transport today. Is this possible? The web site has a lot of information about parking but nothing about getting there by public transport.

LAonFootFilter: my friend in LA (West Hollywood) is having guests next week who don't drive, so he's looking for ideas for places he can drop them off in the morning before work (in Santa Monica), reasonably leave them there for the whole day, and pick them up at night (or perhaps they could cab home). The best ideas I've personally had are driving them to Union Station and putting them on the Surfliner to Santa Barbara, taking them Santa Monica/ Venice and perhaps bus to the Getty, or just dropping them off
at the nearest Metro station. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Amtrak to NYC

Is planning a nine-hour Amtrak trip just a bad idea? Specifically, I'm needing to get from Burlington, Vt. to NYC. What's Amtrak like these days? (Note: I'm a non-USian who's used Amtrak only once, and that five years ago.)

Londonfilter: I'm going in a few weeks. I've been there before (a lot), so need interesting daytrip ideas. I don't drive, so make it accessible by public transportation, and interesting/educational/cultural/fun, 2 hours or so from London.
