Ever used an Alpha-Stim machine?

I have an anxiety disorder, and my psychiatrist tried an Alpha-Stim (cranial electrotherapy stimulation) on me a few days ago. The experience was pleasant but not lasting. I'm told I'll have to use it 2-3 times a week, 20 minutes at a time for a few weeks before I'll know if it's truly effective. So, I'm wondering if anyone here has regularly used one of these or knows anyone who has, and what the experience was like?

We'd like to be better at working with older adults.

I work in a research lab that is transitioning from working with young adult populations to working with 60 year old and up adults. Most people in the lab who don't have experience with older adults (myself included) are finding the transition frustrating and difficult at times. Can you recommend some resources to help us work better with older adults? [more inside]

Emulating people to improve productivity at work & home

Is it normal to wanting to emulate a certain person at your job? My guess is yes, but I find myself doing this all the time. One day, I want to be as ambitious as General David Petraeus and it shows in my work - my productivity increases. Dealing with a harsh comment from a superior at work.

Though I can be broodish and moody at home at times, I keep it in check. People at my workplace find me enjoyable and fun to work with. They find me humorous. I have friends there. Today, one manager out of the blue from another department told me "You are the most negative person I know." I told her in an even tone "That is not too nice a thing to say, you know?" She just rolled her eyes and laughed and said "You're a downer…like Eeyore". Context: She sort of glides from department to department with this air of superiority and says edgy things to people in a joking-but-not-really way. Many don't find her funny. I let her get to me as it cut me deeply. Real deep. Before that I was in a zen mode all day and at peace. How do I deal with interactions with her in the future as I can't change her and I secretly think she likes taking jabs at people. (moderate sociopath?) She is higher in the chain and is liked even higher up as a hatchetwoman and I don't want to be rash with something I might say back. I wish I could buy Thick Skin on ebay or something. Thanks for your answers. (If it matters, I am a male.)

Am I paying too much for therapy?

I found a CBT doctor here in NYC, Dr. Fader, and he charges $300 per session with no sliding scale. My insurance, United Healthcare, covers 70% after I hit my $500 deductible. So after hitting that I would be paying $90 out of pocket. Is this a typical amount to pay w/insurance? I'm asking because I can always look around, but this doctor is supposed to be very good and if it's a typical price I might as well stay with him. Thoughts?
