I've started a new job where they use *sense, the well known censorware. To me it's like a tooth ache, I can't stop poking at it. I forwarded my gmail to a 'me@mydomain.com' email account hosted by dreamhost, but a week later web* is blocking it. I set up CGIPROXY on a server, but *sense knows about it. I've tried PHPPROXY, but gmail won't load through it. What is a reliable, invisible, way around the damn thing? [more inside]

I have an application installed on my PC at work that needs to connect to the internet through our ISA Server. The problem it has is that it can't connect directly unless I put in proxy settings. The problem that I have is that the proxy setting is just one long URL with no username or password. How can I get this application to connect? [more inside]

I am outside the US but would like to watch some online TV episodes from US networks websites. I have found many lists of US-based proxy servers online that I could try, but I am concerned about security -- would using such a proxy server make me more vulnerable to viruses, worms, spam, and/or other such things? Many thanks.

I live outside the US but I'd like to watch US based content on my Mac from places like Hulu. Is there an easy Mac application that will seek out a working US proxy and make all the changes? I'm thinking of something with a big on/off I've played with the massive proxy lists- but most of them seem to not be working. I would pay for an easy solution.

I would like to make an anonymous proxy using PHP (similar in concept to how http://anonymouse.org works). The difference between my project and Anonymouse is that my project is intended for private group use on a specific group of sites (note that this does not break the TOS of either my awesome webhost or the sites on which I'll be using the proxy). I have a Mac running OSX and use programs like Coda and Transmit to send out files. However, on certain networks, the only access I have to the net is via an http proxy (with no https, even!) . I understand there are ways to tunnel sftp over http but could not find an easy guide (or set of tools) to do so in a way where I can attach such tunneling to one profile (ie. CUSTOMER or WORK) and not have the proxying happen on another profile (ie. HOME) [more inside]

I use a laptop at work, where all web traffic goes through a proxy server and is logged. I don't have a problem with that. If I don't change my configuration in Firefox when I am back home, and keep the routing through that proxy server, are they still logging my activity even though I am accessing the internet on my home network?

I recently setup a wireless/wired network for a hotel to be used by about 75 guests. It was simply a matter of daisy chaining a few Netgear switches (JFS516) from the ISP's DSL modem/router and then connecting a few Netgear Access points (WG602) with alternating channels on each floor (one per floor). DHCP is controlled by the router. Everything worked great. However, now the hotel has requested that the network be upgraded to include a page that intercepts all internet requests and I'm looking for tips on how to do that? [more inside]

Free (or very cheap) proxy server that runs on W2k3? We just need it to block access to internet for some, not for others. Optimally, would like it to be tied into Active Directory (W2k3) so we don't have to use new username/passwords. Any suggestions? About 60 user company. [more inside]

Rhapsody has launched for free on the web, and it's compatible with Macs. Great - except I'm based in the UK, and they're using IP blocking to prevent non-US residents from using the service. So what's the most efficient, most reliable, least painful way for my UK-based Mac to spoof Rhapsody into thinking I'm in the States? I don't mind paying a little.

I'm considering ordering some relatively expensive gear online from the US, however the suppliers will only ship domestically. Being that I live in Australia, this is a problem. Does anyone know of some reliable proxy operators who will provide a US address for delivery, and then ship internationally? Is this worth the risk/expense?

I have managed to install my beloved Firefox on my "heavily secured" computer at work and told it to use the company proxy server (we can only go through port 80). I'm not supposed to be using anything other than IE, but, well, you understand. The problem is that I can't access any .net domains (.com, .org, .co.uk and any other TLD works as it should) with Firefox, while this is not a problem in IE. Using the IP number of a .net website brings me to the site just fine, so it seems to be a DNS issue, but I have never heard of a TLD requiring its own DNS server or a special port. I can't ask the company IT people as I'm not allowed to use FF in the first place, and the FF support forums have never even answered my question. Any ideas?

I'm trying to get my application (VB, but that doesn't matter) to connect to the internet and support proxy servers that require a username and password. The former is easy, the latter not. What I'm doing is sending Proxy-Authorization: Basic [authentication] in the header (where [authentication] is "username:password" base64 encoded) with each request. However the proxy server keeps reporting error 407 (authentication required). I've read the RFC's, I've read google groups but I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas?

My s.o. needs help with a technical problem on his home PC: "I cannot open any eBay page on my Internet Explorer. This just started last night. I can open all other internet pages, just none related to eBay. Is there a virus that specifically prevents people from opening eBay pages? This is really frustrating, I have run virus and spyware checks and found nothing, but I cannot think of anything else that could prevent access to a certain domain. Please help."
Anybody got any ideas (besides, obviously, switching to a Mac)?
