Is it possible to clarify a whey protein drink (unflavoured, mixed into water from powder) by using fining agents? Or some other method? I want it to look and taste as much like water as possible. Dilution is an option.
What are your favorite, best-tasting vegan protein powders? Any flavor or style is welcome.
I've had great weight loss success by moving more and doing meal prep in advance. I don't love to cook, but in the winter I make chili, soups, and stews and portion them out into individual meal-sized containers for lunch and dinner. I'm happy to have found a system that works. Last summer I ate bean salads as well as fresh green salads with lots of veggies and chicken almost exclusively. The thought of doing that again just makes me want to eat out. [more inside]
Our dear girl is 15+ years old, 50lbs, and becoming pickier every day. She just won't eat what we've been giving her anymore, she changes her mind every day, and we know we need to aim for low protein. Most of the time now she turns her nose up at just about everything except people food. We are OK with that, but please help us be creative. [more inside]
Pretty simple. I've started lifting and making my macros is a mess, much less calories. Need a rec for a protein shake that requires me to open it, not make it. [more inside]

I'm a sensitive flower when it comes to digestion. I follow a sort 40-30-30 / paleo'ish diet and like to have a constant stream of good quality protein coming into my body. Are there any all-natural shelf-stable meal options that have good quality protein in them? [more inside]

I'm a skinny vegetarian on a healthy diet (no refined carbs or sugars, no processed meals, fresh fruit and veg every day, low sat fats/high unsat fats) and have done cardio exercise for about a year. I have just started doing strength training as well. I want to gain a bit of weight, stay healthy, and promote muscle-growth. I am considering protein powder but feel unsure as to its effects. Any advice? [more inside]

I took a hard look at my budget and I spend way too much on food and groceries. On a per meal basis, the bulk of my costs are for meat. I am an active individual, and I want to be able to get 20-30 grams of protein per meal. What are my options here to cut my costs and still get my protein? I already eat eggs for breakfast and sometimes dinner, but I can only take so many eggs.
I always have trouble finding good things to eat for breakfast, but I suddenly remembered tofu scramble! Lots of protein, not sweet, can be made ahead, and capable of many variations. Perfect. So please tell me, what's your favorite version? [more inside]

I was a happy and successful vegetarian for over 15 years and I recently gave it up. I slowly began introducing fish and chicken into my diet over the last year or so, and only recently have I begun eating red meat again. And now I can't stop. [more inside]
I started lifting weights at the gym about 8 months ago. Initially I made some small gains, but I quickly plateaued and now I feel like I'm putting way more in than I'm getting out of it. As a vegetarian, should I drink like 4 protein shakes a day? [more inside]

I live in a central Pennsylvania village that's almost 200 years old called Linden Hall. It was in the cellar of a home in our village that one of my neighbors found a bunch of old feed bags from the mill that used to be powered by the creek that runs through here. One of those feed bags looked like this. It uses this term "Chop." So we began to wonder why, if Chop was a type of feed, why did it had a protein and fat content label? And why are there horses on the bag? Was this actually livestock feed, or something else? [more inside]
Hi all, I recently started the F-Factor diet For the first two weeks carbs are limited to fiber crackers, all bran, 0% greek yogurt, and one piece of fruit a day. No beans or starchy vegetables. You are allowed a small amount of fat (like a few slices of avocado, or a few peanuts, or a couple teaspoons of oil. Other than that you can have a lot of lean protein (fish, turkey, egg whites, skinless chicken, pork, light cheese, lean beef with fat removed etc.) and vegetables. Unfortunately I'm going away to a cabin this weekend and everyone else will be drinking like fishes and eating crazy fattening food. What are some things that I can make with lean protein and vegetables (and maybe the small amount of fat I'm allowed) that would be tolerable if not delicious. I will have access to a very basic kitchen (nothing fancy but at least a refrigerator, oven and stove). Thanks!
What are great portable, ready-made, high-protein, low carb, tasty, and savory rather than sweet vegetarian processed food items?
Does anybody use whey protein powder to cook anything savory, especially any dinner dishes? I realize this is a longshot question, but web searches haven't turned up much of anything. And again, I'm looking specifically for any successful recipes that use the whey protein powder, rather than fresh whey. Thank you, o hypothetical kitchen wizards!
How many grams of protein do I need per day? 114g, really? [more inside]
I commute by bike, and ever since my commute tripled in distance, I've been coming home tired and hungry and and wanting to EAT ALL THE PROTEIN. Can you recommend some tasty, high protein vegetarian or pescetarian meals which I can either prepare in advance or throw together in the 20 or so minutes before severe post-workout hungry-crankiness sets in? Like every other person on earth, I'm intrigued by the idea of a low-carb diet for weight loss and generally feeling better on a daily basis. I've read lots of almost miraculous success stories, and since I need to lose ~20-25lbs and my standard low-calorie, fruits/vegetables/whole grains thing doesn't seem to work any more, of course I'm thinking I should at least try it. The problem is, most of those success stories include extreme euphoria over the opportunity to consume all that yummy fat and protein, but I mostly really dislike fat and and don't particularly love protein either. I saw a nutritionist and she recommended for lunch and dinner I make sure that 50% of my meal be vegetables, 25% lean protein, and 25% a starch of whole grains with only a minimal amount of dressing or oil for cooking. Beans are great, but count as a starch and a protein. The vegetables can really be any vegetable except potatoes (too starchy). So far I've been (1) eating salads with chicken or pork and (2) vegetable fajitas with whole wheat tortillas and beans (maybe too starchy because it counts as two starches, but I like it). Any other ideas for these eating parameters? I need suggestions for things that I can cook at home very quickly (preparation and cooling 20 minutes or less really don't have a lot of time) and things that I can order in restaurants. Thanks!!!!

Next month I'm going on a two-week camping trip in New Zealand with Flying Kiwi, a tour company I've used before and enjoyed. My main gripe last time was the food: carbs, carbs, carbs all day long! Cereal and toast for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, and pasta and rice-based dinners most nights along with some beer and cider. I'm looking for easy protein-based alternatives that I can stash in my stuff and turn to whenever I need a break from the carb onslaught. [more inside]

I'm eating a certain number of calories per day and using My Fitness Pal to track my food. If, for example, I have most of my day's menu planned but have a certain number of calories, fat grams, protein grams, and carb grams I need to eat to meet my daily targets, is there a website that will tell me which foods fit those criteria? Like a calorie database in reverse, I guess. Does that exist?
