The promotion I deserve went to an external candidate. How do I cope?

If the musician is OK with me putting it on my own website, how might it drive traffic to his site and my site? And is there anything extra I can to make it attract listeners and drive that traffic? He wants to cross-train me on his duties but doesn't want to bother if I am just going to be taking off too. Is there any way I can expedite this process without ruining my chances at the new job?
