What are the best internet events for start-ups to attend?

What events should an internet start-up attend in the US and in Europe in order to get know and gain recognition? My European start-up let's you search video from over 30 video sites, collect them, and publish video channels. We are looking to promote ourselves at different events like Techcrunch50 and LeWeb.

I've searched for websites that index these events but didn't find one that listed them all.

So what are the events we should attend? And is there a website that indexes all thexe events?

How do financial dominatrices make their money? A comment on AskMefi some time ago talked about financial dominatrices, and I've been fascinated by their business ever since. From what I could gather, all they have to do is put up a website saying "You worship me! Give me money and stuff because I know you want to!" - and it works. One site had her Internet bills paid off. Many ask for regular tithes and offerings, and have application processes.

How does this work? From what I could tell, the buyers don't actually get anything back for their cash - it's up to the dominatrix if she wants to give them something or not. (Usually they don't bother.) It's not like she's selling pictures or anything (though I did see one with videos) - it pretty much seems like they're paying money because it gets them off.

How does one get established in the financial dominatrix business? Is there some sort of Financial Dominatrix Directory where they get listed and people just scroll through to see who they like? How do they get attention, and how do they get people to pay? Are there any male dominators, or any women that would pay for such "services"? How would you keep your identity secret to collect cash (and avoid a situation like this mess - link NSFW)?

FreebieFilter: Looking for adult (as in more mature, not R-Rated) freebie sites like TeenFreeway on the web! For the past several years I've checked Teenfreeway (Teenfreeway.com) on and off, because it offers a variety of free things for teens- posters, samples, promotional items, etc. etc. For example, I got a big envelope today with a couple of butterfinger bars and a tshirt and poster from a promotion; a while back I got a free Senseo coffee maker.

Now that I'm getting out of my teen years, I'd like to find some freebies that are a little more adult. I've seen a couple of sites very similar to TFW, but I can't for the life of me remember where they are. Any of you helpful MeFites know? Thanks!

I need new ideas and different angles to website promotion, and since I don't have two nickles to rub together, it's gotta be free. Help me Obi-Wan-Kenobi, you're my only hope! Maybe I'm still in the dark ages. Maybe I'm still stuck inside Web 1.0 when Web 2.0 is just outside my (browser) window, but I think my methods of website promotion are pretty old world. Done the search engine/directory/meta tag thing, done the reciprocal link thing, done the lame alt.website.announce thing and I have sizable and relevant content. Is there any free, effective and ethical ways of promoting a website online? Or maybe good discussion forums to discuss innovative marketing and promtion techniques?
