I'm looking at new laptops, and the one at the top of my list has everything I need ... Except that the only video-out port is HDMI. The problem is that a big part of my job involves presenting, so I need to be able to plug in to projectors that only have VGA ports. What are my options?

I want to project digital images, resident on a laptop, onto a large canvas in order to paint them. My maximum canvas size will be, say, 6 feet by 6 feet. What sort of projector do I need? I am unlikely to use it for any other purpose, i.e. movie viewing.

Can I use a desktop PC connected to a projector as a hub for laptops to present their screens on demand? [more inside]

My Executive Director wants a fancy new LCD projector. Something small, and with the possibility of direct USB support. He's got this idea that he *should* be able to put a file on a USB key and then just plug it into the projector, and not need a laptop to present. This strikes me as a scary proposition, one fraught with the possibility of failure. The thing is, I only have my own skepticism, no hard experience. Can anyone out there provide stories of experiences with this type of projector? Any pros or cons? Recommended projectors?

I'm thinking of replacing/supplementing my PC monitor with a projector, but I've never really used or shopped for one. Is it worth it, or should I just go for a couple of the biggest monitors I can afford? [more inside]

i'm getting a new projector to replace my existing one.
my current macbook only has a 720p native resolution (1280x800) so i'm leaning towards buying a projector with 720p resolution. but thinking forward, with blu-ray players etc, will i have problems playing 1080p movies in 720p? and how will they look? is there a big difference? [more inside]

Has anyone here besides kk
(although of course he can respond too) taken the data-projector approach to home entertainment? I'd be interested in hearing your opinions, especially relative to where you fall on the videophile axis.

two for one:
I just set up my new projector
and while it is AWESOME, i'm having an issue with running my incomputer tv input through and losing allot of quality. 1) is there a good piece of software for interpolating tv input to make it higher quality
2) i'd like to organize a movie club to take advantage of the new beast and meet people in my area (berkeley for the bay area mefites). I'm thinking a craigslist ad but i wasn't sure how you would start such a thing when you don't know anyone (similar to starting a bookclub or something) [more inside]
