I'm getting a projector for gaming (and occasionally movies). It's across a living room, about 15 feet, to go on a wall. I've previously used just a boring office projector and that worked fine. I'm not super concerned about image quality; it needs to be good enough to read text on the "screen", but that's about it. Can I get away with an LED projector?

Hello AskMeFi. Please help me replace the bulb in my aging projector (Infocus X1). The lamp is putting out very little light, so I'd like to replace it. Do I need a "lamp" or a "projector lamp assembly"?

I just bought an Optoma Pico PK301 to use in our (Mac-based) office and also when we travel. Unfortunately I didn't realize that it won't work like a normal projector - i.e. just letting me project what is on my screen. Can I hack it or should I return it and get a different one?

How do I get the highest possible quality when ripping clips from DVD's? I've been using AoA DVD Ripper software to make .avi files, and while some of them look just fine you can sometimes see a huge difference in quality. Should I be using different software or settings?

Looking for recommendations for an inexpensive projector for watching movies on an outdoor wall.
Hoping to spend no more than $300 (used projector would be fine) - to watch movies on my roof against a stucco wall. There are a ton of used projectors on eBay but I need a little guidance on what to look for, as I have no clue.
Just need a basic unit that will project a decent picture from about 10-15 feet away. Built-in speakers would be nice but not necessary.
Thanks!

I'm planning to buy a new video projector, and thought that while I'm at it I should buy a 3D-ready projector so that in a couple of years when there are more 3D movies available, I'll be ready to watch them. Ultimately I think I'll end up getting a new PC with Blu-Ray and probably an NVidia card to play 3D Blu-Rays,
as per this AskMeFi thread. But do I need to get a 3D-ready projector with HDMI, like this
Acer P1200? Or does HDMI not matter? I don't want to end up buying a projector only to find I can't plug it in to the right source a year down the line.

I'm looking to buy a projector off a classifieds site but the only issue is it requires a new bulb upon purchase. Besides the obvious problems that could come of this like having no way to proove that it works. I was wondering how difficult it would be to replace the lamp with some High powered LED's.

Audiovisual question. What will happen if I plug the HDMI output of a Sony Playstation 3 to the DVI port of
this max. 1280x1024 pixel LCD projector? I would of course have a HDMI-DVI
cable. Will I be able to display 720p or 1080i stuff? And if it doesn't work, are there devices out there that downsample HD so I can use the projector for pseudo-HD movies and games? I really do not want to buy an HDTV. If it matters, a PDF manual for the projector (2.2 MB) is
here.

I have a computer with built-in video (GMA 3100) [1 D-sub] and also just bought a $20 video card (Radeon X1300) [1 D-sub, 1 DVI]. I'm connecting both my LCD monitor and Projector to the computer. Will I be able to use both video cards at once and show different things? Which of the two D-subs should I connect to? Which screen should get the better (DVI) connection?

For a new iMac running Windows XP, I need to mirror/clone the display so it shows the same on the monitor and a projector. The graphics driver (for an ATI Mobiity Radeon HD 2600XT) doesn't support mirroring, but the iMac does it automatically. But the monitor and the projector have very different aspect ratios, and the same screen size gets applied to both. Is there a way to set two different screen sizes? There's nothing under the display preferences. Any third party software that would work?
