Sometimes, I am a front-end web developer. Frequently, I meet new people at work who want to turn really complicated Excel documents into dazzlingly interactive web applications.
Besides
Excel's "Save to Web App" or "Save to SharePoint" features, such people ask if I can tap into an industry to support this -- perhaps scads of agencies and web-based or downloadable tools that make "websites" or at least customizable, interactive reports from Excel spreadsheets, data, and calculations.
I'm yet to find this an abundance of examples of this. Are there? If so, what do you call them?

Hello, brightminded and helpful mefi's.
I have an idea for (IMO) an awesome new website that I believe will be huge. Is it still feasible in this day and age for a person to buy a stack of books and learn the coding skills needed for a website with very robust features, to say the least? Or will I have to acquire the funding to hire the people to do this? Funding is non-existent at the point in time.

I want to put a bunch of short videos on a website, and set it up in such a way that I can get a log of when viewers click the keyboard or mouse in response to what they see on the video. In other words, I want to tell the viewer, "Watch video A and click every time you see a cat." "Now, watch video B and click every time you see a dog." How might I accomplish this?

I will soon be put in charge of putting together a secure website for my company. It won't be terribly complex (I think), and it doesn't have to look terribly pretty, but as a relative newbie to something like this, I need some advice as to what software to use.

Anyone know a good, easy RateMe/ Hot or Not script? Ideally I'd like a free script but I'm willing to pay for a well done script. PHP or ASP.

Can anyone suggest a book, website, etc. that describes the process of breaking a problem down in order to write a program. I have struggled for far too long trying to figure out how to write a program from scratch only to be stumped by the logic involved.
This question, I think, is outside of a specific language or philosophy (Java, OOP, et al.). It's just something I haven't been able to get my head around.
