I need a program that will randomly pick a time to sound an alarm without my knowing in advance. It needs to be available for Mac or iPhone -- or failing that, a physical device that I can keep around would work too.

MacFilter: Looking for a program or shell script that will allow me to quickly and easily scan my computer (Mac) for duplicates of images and consolidate them so that aren't redundant copies taking up space everywhere.

I made a long video, and I need to break it into ten-minute-long chunks, so that I can post it to YouTube. I would LOVE some app that let's me
batch process this task. I want to start it running in the morning and come home at night to find a whole bunch of ten-minute-long videos on my desktop.
I'm using an Intel Mac. I'm willing to buy an app if I have to.

OldMacFilter: I have fond memories of using a program called Studio/One on my Mac SE to generate monochrome bitmap art and animation. It was a straightforward, user-friendly program with a very solid System 6 vibe. I also seem to recall other programs from the same company - I seem to recall Studio Eight and Studio 32 as being the other products. My question is, where could I find more information about this wonderful program, to fill my nostalgia for old-school Mac-ness? What company made it, and how could I most easily create animations similar to what it produced? And what were Studio Eight and Studio 32 like? Does anyone else remember this stuff?

How does one cleanly and completely uninstall a program in OS X? Not all programs that I've installed can be completely removed simply be deleteing the program from my hard drive. Some seem to install files in other locations. Is there some sort of tool that makes it easier to ensure complete removal of a program and its stray files?

I'm already to used to my new Mac's keyboard. Unfortunately, I have to use XP at work. Is there a (preferably free) keyboard remapping program for XP? The only one I've found is a six buck download via PCmag.com.

Does anyone know a good backup program? What I want to do is make a carbon copy of a folder on my laptop and have it on my external firewire drive in OS X.
It's a sample library that is pretty big and I don't want to drag copy to whole thing over every time. What I'd like is some sort of "sync" type backup program that would go in and note which files have been added/ changed. Everything app I've seen just wants to make a folder with the date on it periodically.
