What's the price range for a professional music producer for a rock band? We're looking at working with one producer but want to be sure we're getting a good deal. Are there any questions/features we should be asking the producer about to make sure we're getting a good deal? Right now he's telling us it's about $1500-$2000 per song, is that the going rate? At a recent lecture, I taped from the soundboard & from some microphones. I meant to record these to separate channels, but I accidentally left it in low quality mode - mono, 22khz. It sounds like video got thrown into the mix. Can I salvage the audio? [more inside]

Audio Production filter: I'm looking for background music for an audio project. The problem is, I don't know how to describe it. It's what I would call '1950's americana marketing music' or maybe 'bouncy happy super-retro cliche music'. See inside for a link to an example... [more inside]

Around 1997 there was a website a guy made that detailed all of Led Zeppelin's recording sessions down to the most minute detail. Even pointing out that you could hear John Bonham's bass drum pedal squeaking throughout most of Physical Grafitti (like in the song Houses of the Holy)...or the sounds of tapes/edits being dubbed together, or other studio anomalies. Anyway, I can't find the site any longer and this kind of crap fascinates me. Does anybody know of other sites like this that anaylise the recordings of well known recordings??
