I bought something on the internet. The store I bought it from seemed (after I placed the order) shady, didn't ship the item, wouldn't cancel the order. I went to my bank and filled out a form thing, my bank refunded the money for me. Today I got a shipping notice about the thing that I ordered. What now?

The scrollwheel-click has suddenly stopped working in Firefox. I don't recall making any changes in preferences, but all of a sudden, what used to open up links in new tabs, no longer does so. Instead wheel-clicking on a link does nothing. Any idea how to fix this problem? I feel like I'm browsing with one less finger! (Mac OSX.4.11, Firefox 2.0.0.11, Safari is unaffected by the problem.)

I'd like to learn about SVM, HMM and wavelet algorithms in their usage in bioinformatics. I have a somewhat rudimentary understanding of the underlying mathematics from Wikipedia and a couple other sources, but I find that a concrete demonstration of their application fleshes it out.
Are there texts, software packages (preferably free) or papers you'd recommend that: 1) includes good starter problem sets, or; 2) demonstrates how these techniques are used in research applications (beyond "we used
xyz here"). Thanks!

The website
toysrus.ca won't load any images on my computer, it's the only site I could find that does this. Even stranger, if I access the site through a proxy, the site loads fine. I also asked friends online to check for me, and the site loads fine for them too. What is going on?

I live on a street where the houses are not on the same ground level and so there are retaining walls between the properties. The house on my uphill side was built in the 1920’s and my house was built on a vacant lot between two houses from that era in 1961. Thanks to a brochure of the development in the 20’s, I have a picture of these two neighboring houses when my lot was vacant. The picture clearly shows the walls, or in actuality, the walls that are visible above ground level. These walls were built on top of the real retaining walls and were wood frame inside with chicken wire and plaster over the outside.

A month or so ago, I became unable to add new tracks to Itunes. Whether I try to add via clicking on the track, dragging into iTunes, or adding the track from the file menu, the result is the same. I have also tried changing my preferences so that the track does not copy to the iTunes library when it is added; still the same. When I try to add a track, my hard drive just spins and makes a little clicking noise and iTunes goes into "not responding" mode, with the spinning pinwheel.

Imagine a cube-shaped building, with ten cube-shaped rooms along each side (10 rooms long, 10 high & 10 deep). Each cubular room has 4 walls, 1 ceiling and 1 floor. Each of the 6
interior surfaces in all 1000 cubular rooms is decorated with a different piece of art.
The rooms can be moved around the building, as if it were an enormous Rubik's cube, but they can also be spun on their axes, so all 6 walls of all 1000 cubes is capable of touching all the others (if the cube is so arranged).
How many combinations of art within the 'Cube Gallery' are possible? If you can run me through the workings of the maths I would be extra grateful. Also, what technical words/phrases/language are useful/interesting in expressing this concept?

The problem: I'm subscribed to 20-30 high volume mailing lists (e.g., Ubuntu, Python) and the gmail account I'm using is now 80% full! I subscribed to them to ask a question once in a while, but I really have no interest in following every post to the lists. My question is how do others handle this situation? Is there a solution to mailing lists that I'm missing?

My kitchen is systematically going on strike. Last week, my kitchen faucet stopped working. The sprayer thingee still works when the water is on. All other water appliances still work. Just no water from the kitchen sink.
The next day, my roommate tells me that the garbage disposal isn't running. Everything else on that circuit is running fine.
What to do? How do I fix this? Do I call an electrician, a plumber?
