Notifications for things I shouldn't be able to see

Since about a month ago I've been getting notifications (under the globe icon) about a few friends of mine about postings they've made on various pages. Without fail clicking on them yields "The page you requested was not found". I'm still listed as friends with these people - have they singled me out for partial blocking? Is there some way to avoid getting these notifications for things I can't see?

Privacy ideas for backyard

Need ideas for privacy in my new back yard. I have a fence between us and the neighbors, but it is already at maximum allowed height. My deck extends all the way to the side yard at the fence so when I am standing on the deck, the fence is only about 4' higher than the deck and doesn't really hide the next yard. I don't want to do anything to the fence because the neighbors own it. [more inside]

Delete my Google's Search History?

What are the benefits of Google's Search History? As I understand it, Google is changing it's privacy policy so that my personal search history (which was previously kept separate), will now be tied to my Google profile for other Google products (Google+, Gmail, Google Voice, etc.). In other words - my search history will now be associated with my actual name and personal phone number. So - I'm thinking about removing my search history, but I don't know what I'd be giving up. According to Google - it uses my history to "personalize" my search results. But - does this really make a difference? [more inside]

Why/How did Facebook spam me?

So... FacebookTM sent an email to my email address from someone who I don't know but lives in my general geographical area requesting my friendship. Problem: this email address is definitely not associated with a FacebookTM account. However, there are probably cookies from FB on this computer. Also, this potential "friend" appears to run some sort of digital media consultancy (blech). Question: how did Facebook scrape this email address exactly and why did I get this email? Did this guy pay Facebook to send a friend request to an email address they scraped or is it something more automatic? [more inside]
