I would like to cover an entire bedroom wall in color photocopies. I have put this off for years, for fear of destroying my rental suite bedroom wall with whatever adhesive I used, but recently learned that some people have had success affixing images cut out from color copies (though not necessarily entire 11x17 sheets) to their walls using aerosol starch, and later being able to remove them without leaving any traces; others have failed to get the images to stick at all using this method. Have you experienced success or failure in attempts to do something similar? What are my other options here?

My wife and I went to the ROM in Toronto last week and stumbled onto an exhibition of
Beethoven 1-32 by Jorinde Voigt. Does anyone know if it is possible to purchase a print or reproduction of her work? Both my wife and I were blown away by the delicacy and symmetry of the drawings.

What is this non-permanent printer ink I've received in a print? I didn't know that ink
couldbe erased with a simple pencil eraser, but indeed the postcard-sized print I received on relatively heavy paper (possibly watercolor paper) was erasable with a pencil eraser. I only wanted to see if I could slough off a speck of dirt, and instead skin color came off the portrait. What's going on? Is this kind of ink going to fade and disappear in a couple of years even under glass?

Museum stores and art print retailers (e.g.
art.com) sell reproductions of art in many forms. These include archival-quality prints, postcards, coffee mugs, t-shirts and so on. But sometimes I see a painting in a museum and I can't find any reproductions of it. What determines which pieces of art are available for reproduction and at what price?

I'll be exhibiting a number of my photographs at a small gallery here in NYC in August. Between now and then, I need to have the images (which currently exist only in digital form) printed. This is an area I have very little experience with! Can anyone steer me to a lab (preferably in NYC) which will produce good digital C-prints? More details after jump.

Hi all,
I am a neuroscience student and I'd like to get my mentor a print of one of Santiago Ramon y Cajal's famous drawings of a neuron as a going away gift. Unfortunately, I can't find anywhere that sells prints or photos of these drawings online, but I was able to find a book at my university's library that has larger (12" x 24") high quality images of these drawings.
My question: what is the best way to go from book to print? Are there particular scan qualities or types? Particular types of paper/material to print onto? Places (FedEx, architecture firms) to go to? Any advice would be really helpful.
Thanks!
Brian

Seeking NYC print shop recommendations for nearly one-off prints. I have about 20 pieces of different, mostly standard sizes -- nothing larger than 11 x 17 and B4 -- that I'd like to make a very limited number color prints of (1 - 3 each). I have an approximate budget of 10 dollars per print I'd like to hew closely to and a number of quality and care requirements.

I want to decorate a rec room in my basement with prints and other items that have been featured in movies and TV shows. I’m not looking for promotional things or other advertisements, but prints that are well known from those movies. Someone should see it and go “Hey!! That’s the thing from that movie! Where did you get that?”

I'm looking for a way to make very occasional photo prints, color and b&w, in the 8x10 and 11x14 range. I've looked at buying a printer and concluded that's not cost effective for my needs. Ideally, I'd like to send a Photoshop file to someone and then drive by to pick up the prints or have them ship the prints to me.
Are any of the online services any good? If so, who is the best?
What about places like Costco and Kinkos?
I've found a few old threads here on this subject, so I suspect things have changed. I'm looking for better than drugstore/Walmart/Target quality.

A few days ago, I unknowingly spilled water on a pile of old photo prints that I am planning on scanning. They dried, and now, as a result, the bottom twenty are stuck together. How can I separate the prints without tearing or otherwise ruining them? If that is impossible, I still have the negatives somewhere; how can I best scan negatives into a regular flatbed scanner?

My dad has many boxes of the photographs he took during college 30 years ago. After completing my freshman year, I have equally as many digital pictures saved on my computer. While I would love to make 1500 prints, that isn't very plausible. What's the best way to preserve these pictures and make them easily accessible and viewable in the future? (I might be able to choose 200 or so to make the most accessible and viewable.)
