Is there anyone in MeFi-land who runs a small--or not-so-small--online-based T-shirt/printed garment business who has experience in DTG/Screen print outsourcing through fulfillment companies? Looking for a company that is friendly to start-ups and/or carries higher quality print blanks… [more inside]
I'm looking to print business cards. 300 dpi seems to be the standard online but that isn't sufficient for my design. Anyone know an online company that prints 1200 dpi (or higher)?
I'd like to order a bunch of small transparent adhesive labels with metallic printing. What is this printing style/technique called? How much should I expect to pay? And can you recommend someone who does this and can handle smaller runs? [more inside]
I want to get business cards with borders. I was looking at moo, and they recommend not using a border because cropping may not be even on all sides. I'm not talking about scientific precision, but I would like my cards to appear even on all sides. Is this realistic, and are there other companies that do this better? I would also like to be able to get rounded corners and some sort of smooth matte or glossy finish on both sides.
Over the next month or so, I may occasionally need to do some printing in London (never more than 10-50 pages). Is there anywhere near the Waterloo station where I could bring a usb drive or a laptop and easily and inexpensively print out black and white documents using a laser-printer? Self-service would be preferable. Perhaps there might be one or more chains of printing places (like FedEx/Kinko's in the US) that offers this service throughout the UK? Many thanks for any suggestions.
Here's the issue—every single print shop I ask can only do runs of like 500 sheets for personal letterhead. I want only 50 sheets with envelopes, and I don't want to pay a freaking arm and leg for nice letterhead. How can I do this? I don't want something that's merely laser printed onto cheap paper. I'd like something that's nice, professional, and exudes quality. I've seen these at Crane, but they're still quite expensive. Any ideas mefites?
Is there any research on people who pay for publicly available documents that are bound and sold by the government, not third parties? I was fascinated that when the 911 Commission issued it's report, it flew off the shelves when it was bound and sold by the GPO even though the same report was also fully available online. I'm also not referring to services provided by USSearch or KnowX. I mean, I guess, anything produced by the Government Printing Office that is for sale as a bound document (since they are also public documents), but is also available for free online. I would think if people could repackage and sell publicly available documents, that would open a whole world of new publishing opportunities.
My wife is in Paris attending a conference, and just realized that she didn't bring her business cards along! I know that freestanding machines exist to make these while-you-wait in other cities, but where can one go to get same-day business cards in Paris? Difficulty: some, but limited, French language ability.

I just got a cheap-o HP printer that features two sided printing. It seems to print on one side, suck the paper back in, and print on the other side. Does anyone know how this works? Does it flip the paper over? My guess is that it loops it back in (back facing down), probably raises the heads, and "prints upside down" the other side. But I'd love to see a diagram or video. Can't find one, though.

Access - trying to get by with the easiest way. There's a form and a table. After the form is filled out it needs to be printed and go to the table. Going to the table is fine. The problem - if the exact sequence of clicks is not followed then you print all the forms. Macro? Other ideas?
I want to print a once-off version of a long poem I've written for display; all I have so far are the words (no specific designs or illustrations or whatever). Toronto-filter: Some professors at my school are giving their textbooks to us students, free, via a printable PDF. So, I'd like to get it printed as cheaply as possible and then bound. I'm interested in printing some color documents. I can go to my local UPS store, but I'm curious whether there are good options online so I don't have to go to the store. I have a Macbook with OS X 10.5.8 and Firefox 13.0.1. The printing scale under File -> Page Setup in Firefox has randomly started defaulting to 60%. So every time I restart Firefox, I have to go in there and change it back to 100% before I print anything. I can't figure out how to change it back. Is this a Firefox thing, or a printer thing? Recently when I print with Firefox, it tries to squeeze everything into 1 page. The text is TINY. I have tried "Print 100%", Scale to Fit, Print regular in preferences (HP Laserjet 4200). I have tried to print with different drivers. Nothing I do save "Print 200+%" works, and that's absolutely absurd to have to do each time. Chrome prints things fine, but I really don't want to have to use a different browser each time... Anybody have an idea? Any info I seem to find on the web comes up with old FF2 and FF3 printing issues. Nothing with a more current version on the mozilla forums.

Sales tax question: We hired someone to print our wedding invitations - we did all the design. The person we hired does this as a small side business in addition to her day job. We got the invoice for the printing today and there is a charge for sales tax. She is in the same state as us (CA) but in a different city. I was surprised at the charge - is this normal? I'm not sure what the status of her business is, if it's a sole proprietorship or a corporation or what.
I have a simple mind, and I want to make a bunch of simple invitations. [more inside]

I am a procrastinator and now I am up against a gift-giving deadline (Saturday!) with no time for shipping. For reasons I won't get into here, its really important that I can include custom stickers (small squarish ones like 2x2 or label size; dimensions are not so important). I thought it would be easy to have them made at Walmart or a drugstore but it looks like those places will only ship them to you, not print them in the store. If I have to, I can buy sticker paper and print them myself but the quality of my home printer is not great. Are there any obvious choices I am overlooking?

Graphic Designer who wants to start her own screen printed shirt line (i know... I know). But doesn't want to get them printed on ugly looking shirts.
I want to start my own T-shirt company (i know I know. Don't roll your eyes). I am a graphic designer and would like to create shirts that are stylish. Basic screen printed shirts with sayings etc. While I know how to screen print I think my best bet is designing and then getting them printed through, well, an online shirt printing company. The trouble is most of them are very limited and have just the tacky crew neck shirt kind of thing. I don't want to do cafe press or zazzle style printing. So, What's a good company to go with? any suggestions? For example take a look at JacVanek.com Not crazy about her designs but her shirts are what I'm looking to print on. That urban outfitters style! Thanks!
