guitar tuning for kids

Can people recommend diagrams and electronic guitar tuner gadgets to help a 12 year old tune a guitar? My nephews have all the kit needed to become an awesome boy band (well, once they learn how to play, anyway) but currently the thing holding them back is that the electric guitar is always out of tune and no-one knows how to tune it. They have an electronic guitar tuner but it is totally crap and just seems to give random advice when you try to tune.

So, can anyone recommend:
1) simple instructions, understandable by kids, on how to tune by ear (e.g. what note is each string supposed to be, where do you hold the strings down to tune each one against the next, etc)
2) a decent electronic guitar tuner that actually works and is simple to use

(because even if you have (1) down, you still need (2) to get at least one of the strings right, to tune the others relative to it)

Printable instructions are preferable to videos, thanks.

Print-on-demand presents?

Is there such a thing as an online vendor from whom I can purchase print-on-demand gift certificates as a wedding gift that I can put in today's mail? So I have some friends who were married several weeks ago and I couldn't go to the wedding. Mainly out of forgetfulness (with a touch of lazy), I have not yet procured a gift. They've said they don't really want gifts but I still wanted to send a token of some sort. The couple is in their late 40s who already have an established home and children and don't need appliances or other things to get their household started. They live in another town so I'd like to mail them a modest gift card or certificate -- something fun or sweet and appropriate for a newly married couple, that they can use online or at some kind of specialty retailer.

I've had the wedding card here waiting to be sent for some time, so if there's a way I can print off a gift cert. today that would be ideal -- instead of ordering something and waiting for it to come to me before I can send it. I'm not interested in generic retailers like Amazon, Target, William Sonoma, etc. Also not interested in "(Edible thing) of the Month" arrangements. I'm thinking more along the lines of a certificate for something like wines, desserts, interesting/odd household items, or other newlyweddish stuff. Anyone have ideas?

Blank walls, empty frames

Where, online, can I find photographs and scans of classical Asian and Middle Eastern art? Specifically, where can I find images that I could ethically and practically print and hang in small frames above my desk? I'm no expert and I realise this is a big field, but I really love Islamic and Asian art. Mughal miniatures, Chinese brush paintings, Japanese woodblock prints - they remind me of my globe-trotting grandmother's house.

There's no room in my budget for actually buying art right now, but I do have a printer and some good paper. Can you recommend a source for out-of-copyright art that I can print?

I really don't want to infringe copyright or commit glaring cultural gaffes, so please don't jump on me for wanting to do this. I'd prefer sources where the art is presented in context so I can learn about its history as I search.

Architecture know-it-alls?

I need a printable blueprint with the usual blue-colored blueprint font. Nothing huge, just an 8-1/2 by 11 printed sheet will be all I need. My son is getting his Master of Architecture in a few weeks and I am framing a picture of/for him. Can you help me find the just-right color of the blueprint and font? I've googled and most everything is too black-and-white, not that blue.

Best resouce for free printable crosswords?

Where can I find free printable crossword puzzles online for this lazy Sunday and beyond? Preferably a resource that lets me choose from a variety of difficulty levels or is geared more toward beginners than experts. A google search turns up a mixed bag of less than stellar results. Where are your favorites? If the answer involves installing a program like Across Lite (which I've only tinkered with in the past) and then printing from there, that's fine as well. And I'm aware that there are plenty of crossword books around, but I'd prefer to print on-demand. Thanks all.

I love printing things. Please direct me to websites with cool things to print out (e.g., interesting pdfs, stationery, stickers, posters, foldable objects, paper cd cases, quotations I should keep, anything that allows me to make the most of my printer!!)
