I'm a web developer / eLearning developer on Windows 7 looking to: 1) Get a Mac because I need to be able to test sites quickly and easily on my own; 2) Get a Windows-bootable unit that can act as my backup machine when my
Asus throws a tantrum as it did this week; and 3) Get a reasonably portable Windows-bootable laptop that can handle Photoshop and other resource hogs so that I can work on it at client sites without having to barely squish the Asus (aka "The Clydesdale") into my largest backpack. Ideally, I could get all three in one machine that wouldn't cost the earth. Please join me as I anguish over the MacBook Air, the MacBook Pro, the Mac Mini, and other options.

Hi
I am responsible for compensating a two year old TV bought for $900 then. (A guest in my party broke and no one is owning up...ex-landlord is behind me now)
Similar model (brand new) is $600 now all included and being demanded 600, citing the higher price paid then.
What is a fair price that I should pay?
How do I make a convincing reply ?
....please help....

I read a passage about a writer's drug use, and the drug use of his friends. The gist was "we wanted the party to go on too long, but the price was too high" and it had a list of people and what had happened to them (dead, liver disease, etc.). It was very touching. It might have been Kerouac. Does this ring any bells for anyone?

I'm tentatively in the market for a smartphone or tablet or other such device that would allow me to do computery things, preferably things that use the Internet, while on public transportation. However, I'm pessimistic about my ability to actually afford anything that would provide the functionality I want. Am I wrong?

What is the best photographer fee approach for portrait photography? Mrs. dyno04 is getting into the photography business and is trying to figure out how to best price sittings, prints, etc... We don't really like the sitting fee + price per print approach. So we are thinking about either a sitting fee + price per print + after X amount of prints receiving print release rights or sitting fee includes print release rights.
If you were going to pay someone to take pictures (she is targeting babies, families, possibly pets), what kind of fee structure would you like to see from a photographer?

Toronto hotels filter: I'm coming to Toronto at the end of the month for a week and need to find a (very?) nice hotel no more than two blocks away from Bloor Street (at about Yonge or so - I think the area is called Yorkville but I'm not sure) at a reasonable price. We're two adults, one shopping and one working, and one baby and the prices we've found so far are quite insane ($500+ per night). Thanks!

Is $10,500 reasonable for a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta TDI? It's in very good condition and has 135,000 km. He'd be selling it certified and e-tested. The seller is asking $10,500. I countered with $9,500, and he came back with $10,000 not certified. How much does certification usually cost? Would I be wise just to go with what he's asking so everything's done?
