What would be a great wedding present for our friends? The bride is French, early 30s, groom, late 30s, New Zealander. They have two very sweet children, a little girl, three years, and a little boy, just under a year old. Wedding is in France and we won’t be able to attend, but we will be able to see them on Saturday this week.

Plate o' wedding beans: We're starting to receive early wedding gifts, both from people attending and not attending the ceremony in 3.5 weeks. Should we open them? Acknowledge their receipt? Send proper thank-you notes? Help me, Emily-Post-i-fites.

What can I give as a wedding present to a Chicago couple in their early forties who have combined their households, have everything they need, no registry, don't want more stuff?

A good friend is getting married September 1st and I'm interested in buying for her and the Mr. a certificate for an at-home cooking lesson for the two of them--they've taken cooking classes before and dug them so I thought it might be fun for them to do it at home in their new place with their new stuff.
We/they live in Chicago--does anybody have any recommendations for places? I've come up with a few on Google but I want to see if anyone's had any personal experience with this since it seems a lot of it would depend on good customer service.
thanks!

Creative, clever gift-filter. I need an appropriate gift for each of two separate occasions in June: My mom's retirement, and my ex-girlfriend's wedding.
