Can I get a prescription from my doctor for a urine drug test? I quit smoking marijuana ~25 days ago. Before quitting I smoked once or twice everyday. I ordered some dipstick drug test off the internet and started testing my urine after 5 days of not smoking. About 7 days ago the tests started coming up negative. I'd like to get this confirmed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. Can I ask my primary care physician for a prescription for one? If I do, will he get the results and report them to my insurance company?

Prescription drug pricing wtf: Compared to last month, this month I got 50% more milligrams of an antidepressant, but had to pay 200% more money. The only difference is the pills were smaller, and so there were more of them. I don't understand what's going on here.

I'm prescribed 30mg of Adderall XR for my adhd. I was diagnosed and prescribed it from the psychiatrist that my job's health insurance uses. He says he can only prescribe it to me one prescription at a time.
My high co-pays are adding up and its becoming costly to have to go every time. My doc tries to help by giving me two scripts at a time (one with the correct date and one a month out) but I'm still shelling out a lot six times a year to get my prescribed medication.
I completely understand that Adderall is abused in the US and there needs to be controls on how its dispensed. I wouldn't mind going every six months so he can check up on me and monitor my use of it. Usually our appointments are 15 min chats about my mood and any side effects I may be experiencing. I'm no MD but that hardly seems worth an in office visit.
Has anyone else dealt with this issue? Is there a way around this?

I'm looking for a discount online glasses shop like Zenni Optical that sells prescription sunglasses with really dark tint. I bought a couple of pairs from Zenni with 80% tint (the darkest option), and they're not quite cutting it on particularly sunny days. Zenni has said they can't go any darker, so I'm looking for other options. So if you're happy with some very dark (or even mirrored) prescription sunglasses that you've ordered online, tell me where you got 'em!

Are there U.S. laws or professional guidelines regarding physicians prescribing placebos to patients, or is there really nothing stopping a doctor from misleading a patient about the efficacy of a drug? Furthermore, is it technically possible that popular medications many of us know by name could themselves be nothing more than placebo pills?

I took Accutane for acne in high school, and in college I was diagnosed with GERD and will probably have to take Nexium for the rest of my life. I never associated the two, but this evening I noticed one of those sleazy "sue prescription drug companies!" ads that said that Accutane has been linked to GI disorders. Is this worth pursuing, and if so, how should I go about it?

I had all but a sliver of my thyroid removed in May 2007, when I was 20. I was under my dad's fantastic health insurance then. Since then, my dad has been laid off, and my health insurance through my work will not pay for anything until I've met a $2000 cap. I didn't make an appointment with my specialist for nearly two years, so he refused to fill my prescription for levothyroxine.
