I have a slideshow with 4 sections named "CurrentSection", "NextSection", "AfterNextSection", and "AfterAfterNextSection".
The slideshow is viewed repeatedly but also irregularly (sometimes multiple times per week and sometimes weeks in-between).
After each slide is viewed and discussed, I need to be able to assign the slide to a different section. (A slide's section determines how soon it will be viewed again, as explained below.)

I'm speaking at a technical conference in about 2 weeks and my slides (in openoffice) are using black as its background color. But recently in a
podcast, several people commented that for conferences, it is mandatory that slides use white for the background to enhance the legibility. On
this previous question, the commented used white text on an almost black background. Should I reformat my slides to use a white background ?

Trying to find a video about a young woman (editor?) from a major publishing house who did a really great, to-the-point stick-figure-simple powerpoint about ... how a book gets published? I can't remember if I saw it here, You Tube, mediabistro, Facebook -- oy. Searching has failed. Thanks!

My place of employment has a long and convoluted phone tree that our clients have to wade through when they call in. No one in the organization seems to have written everything down in one place, and I'm trying to create a...document?...that allows us to conceptualize which of our menu options lead where, and what they say at each point. What's the best/easiest way to do this and make it useful?

Can a netbook effectively run Powerpoint? If so, any recommendations? The primary use would be regular ol' netbook tasks (browsing the net, email). However, as an attorney, I also occasionally need a laptop to display Powerpoint slides via the courtroom's newfangled electronic display system (through the VGA port). Will a netbook be able to do this in a passably quick manner with an older version of Powerpoint / a similar program? With added RAM? Please justify my purchase of a $350 toy.

I need to do a powerpoint about gun trafficking in Colombia. First of all, how do I get the powerpoint to go to the next slide automatically after a certain period of time after one slide is shown, and how do I incorporate music into the slide show? Secondly, can anybody point me to any useful charts/graphs/pictures on the web? I found this online pdf U.N. report that was really helpful but unfortunately I couldn't save or copy and paste any of the graphs as they were part of the text. Help is greatly needed and appreciated.

I used to be able to insert animated gifs into Powerpoint and have them run when I clicked on them. Now the only way I can get them to work (following Powerpoint's own instructions) is to insert them as objects that when clicked, open in Window's "Picture and Fax viewer". Surely there's a better way? I want to make an entertaining presentation for undergraduates, not look like an old fogy who can't use new technology.

Using Open Office Impress...need a little help with making a navigation bar. I have all the slides ready, just can't figure out how to add a visible nav bar with the usual buttons or arrows ie: First, Previous, Next, and Last. I can make it so that when anyone clicks, the next slide appears, but I would like to dress it up a bit if possible. BONUS : Understand that I've never used this, or PP before...and I'm kinda dumb.

Who writes about better Powerpoint presentations, and says most are bad? Seeking book and/or author about how to do PowerPoint, by a woman who spoke on Minnesota Public Radio (or NPR) about a month ago, before Thanksgiving. I've Googled, and searched MPR/NPR to no avail She did the Ppt's for Al Gore's slide show and movie. She said most presentations were awful. and Sounded convincing. That's most of what I remember. And there are lots of PowerPoint books. can anyone help?
