I have a laptop cooling fan which runs on USB power. It works well but it's a fairly monotonous drone. The internal fans are linked to the cooling unit and the temperature monitor, so they operate based on the current temperature. Is there any way I can control the USB fan based on temperature as well? [more inside]

MacUsersFilter: This seems like a fairly simple Google search, but I'm coming up short all over the place; what is the name of the little part with the actual power prongs that interfaces into the power brick shipping with all Macs, and will interface with any power brick (post Yo-Yo), any AirPort Express, or any iPod charger brick? Question about power source on an iBook G4. (Namely: I think it's broke. Is it, in fact, as totally borked as I think it is?) [more inside]

Can anyone recommend a good third-party power adapter for an Apple PowerBook? [more inside]

The power connector to my G4 Powerbook is almost dead. It only charges in one very specific position, and I have to twist it around for a few seconds to find the sweetspot (rotating it in situ). Nothing is loose and nothing is visibly wrong. I tried squeezing the metal sleeve slightly to make it more elliptical in the hope this would create a tighter connection, but it made no difference. I have a new 12 inch PowerBook with original power adaptor, my girlfriend has a 1 year old iBook with original power adaptor, I also have an old 15 inch 877 MHz "TiBook" PowerBook with an aftermarket power adaptor supposedly built just for that TiBook (at least I was told it would work with that TiBook.) Can we share power adaptors? Or should I only use my new power adaptor with my new PowerBook?

I'm setting up a new Mac Mini for someone. I needed to plug in a keyboard, a mouse, a printer, and, occassionally, a flash disk. I went with the Apple Pro keyboard because it had two USB ports. I figure, one for the mouse, and one for the flash disk. The printer could go in the other USB port on the machine itself. Well, I try plugging in the flash disk and I'm told there isn't enough power. Is this perhaps a software setting? Surely the flash disk can't use a tremendous amount of power, so can I do something to trick the system? Do I really need to buy a powered USB hub now? I might as well replace the mini and the keyboard with Airport-enabled equivalents, if I can never use both USB ports on the keyboard.
