I had to put up these posters in my own classroom; they were so expensive I had to sell my house!

Why did my elementary/high school teachers complain so much about how they don't make enough money? I looked at the Department of Labor's website, and they make just as much as they would in certain postsecondary subjects (about $53,000). I always thought they made $25,000 a year or something, but this has changed everything! Am I missing something? ...Or are they just bitter they're stuck in the public school system?

What are the benefits of having a 4 year BA over a 3 year one?

What are the benefits of having a 4 year BA over a 3 year one? After getting the bureacuratic runaround on campus...
Im at a university in Canada that offers a 3 year 'general' BA that if i take enough courses in one subject i can get a 'general degree with an area of specialization'. But im in psyc and they dont offer a 3 year specialization in psyc so it would just be a general degree.
So i can think of needing a 4 year for continuing on to grad school, or becoming a teacher because i need a 'teachable' as my friend told me, but thats all i can think of...

Alternative Places Of Learning

Alternative colleges, universities, and other forms of post-secondary learning worldwide - any suggestions? I'm looking for suggestions for alternative colleges/universities/post-secondary-school educational places around the world.

By "alternative" I mean having any combination of the following attributes:

(a) Nonconventional method of studying and/or structure of courses (e.g. colleges with independent degrees, courses aligned by topic [like Evergreen]), etc

(b) Nonconventional method of evaluation (e.g. colleges that write detailed evaluations as opposed to grades)

(c) Just nonconventional period (e.g. Semester At Sea, Up With People)

I've already got a ton of names for places in the USA so I'd really appreciate places from other countries too. Do explain how they're unconventional/alternative/out-of-the-box.

Thank you!
