I have a technical problem with Word Press posting I can not understand

Tool for WordPress not working properly. How can I fix this? I have used Word Press for a number of years . I followed their suggestion and placed their tool called Press This into my FireFox tool bar. Thus, when I want to upload a site onto my blog, I would simply hit (in tool bar) Press This and it would publish to my site.

For two days, though, Press This functions but does not show in the box provided by this tool what it is that is being copied. If I run my mouse over the box, I can detect the very faint print of what is to be posted, but previously the material was clearly visible. It no longer is. But since I can not see what is in the box, I am unable to add copy or photos or anything without first posting and then going back to editing. the post to get what I want to be posted.

I know the Press This works. I tried it in Safari (Mac) and it works as it supposed to, so the issue has to do with Firefox, it seems. I prefer to work in FF rather than Safari. I have reinstalled Press This a number of times but it continues to present the problem I am having.

Any solution to this?

How do I post many photos for a group to view?

I'm taking lots of photos for my community theater group, and I want to post them online for cast members to view and download. What's the best way to do that? Before the show is over, I'll probably have 400 high resolution photos to post. I want to leave them up for 6 weeks, so I don't need a long-term storage solution, just a way to provide easy access to cast members.

I opened a Flickr account, but I would be way above their free account limits. I use Picasa for editing, and Picasaweb has similar limits. I thought about setting up an online group through Yahoo or Google, but I don't have email addresses for cast and crew. I'm not sure if those are ideal for pictures anyway.

Free is best, as I'm donating my time and talents to the group, but I would be willing to pay a small amount for this service. What would you suggest?

How is sign disappeared?

How are advertising postings on public property viewed in the eyes of the law? There are always ads plastered all over telephone poles and traffic signal posts, and near them, lawn signs promoting "earning $$$ working at home," dating singles in your area, or politicians. So, I take it that it's legal to put these on public property.

The postings appear and disappear, which means that someone must be taking the old ones away to make space for the new ones. So, is it also legal for anyone to take down a sign that's on public property? Are the postings no one's property once they are posted?

On one hand, ripping down a sign seems vandalous. On the other, it would be ridiculous for someone to be able to claim some public space just by putting a piece of paper there first.

The soldier's wife.

Tell me about what it's like to be in a military family. I'm looking for anecdotal experience on the challenges and rewards of military life, specifically in the role of a wife. Other perspectives are more than welcome, of course.

We are making our first move together in the next couple of months, and I'd kind of like an idea of what to expect. We're in Canada, and will be living on a relatively urban base. We're also thinking about starting a family in the next couple of years. Ideally, I'd like to be a stay-at-home mom. We're currently in our mid-20s, if that's at all relevant. This is also my first permanent move away form the city I was born and raised in (albeit, fairly close).

As far as I know, he's unlikely to go on tour at this point. If he does, the nature of work will keep him off the front lines, so I'll have less to worry about there. In my future, all I see is cardboard and moving trucks. Amirite?

So... help? What's coming my way?
Is this a job offer or a scam? I responded to an ad on Craigslist looking for a typist to work from home for $250 a week. I sent a reply, and got the following reply. I really need extra income, so though I feel more sure by the second that this is a scam, I'd just like to make sure. Sigh. Here's the reply:
Streamlining RSS/Web Browsing?

I'm looking to streamline my process of browsing RSS feeds and websites. The way I do it now ...

I am subscribed to feeds via Google Reader. I browse through them using the keyboard: 'k' for the next item if I'm uninterested and 'v' to open the item in a new tab if I'm interested. Then I go through the opened tabs. If I'm too backlogged to pay attention to them, I bookmark all open tabs via Firefox's "Bookmark All Tabs".

When I do go through the tabs, if it's a lengthy read I nonetheless want to pay attention to, I may file longer reads into a folder marked, appropriately enough, "Longer Reads"; otherwise, I take action on them if appropriate. If they represent something I need to do, I use a bookmarklet to shunt the URL into Remember the Milk as a task.

If it's something I want to blog, I usually post it to my del.icio.us account using the del.icio.us complete firefox extension. (del.icio.us then sends a daily post of what I've put in that day to my blog.) If something really cheeses me off or is something I think is really great, I open MarsEdit (a Mac OS X blogging application) and climb onto my soapbox.

Obviously, this is recreational and not obligatory, so it's not something I'm feeling under the gun about. I'm nonetheless wondering if it can be done more efficiently; if there are Firefox extensions, Greasemonkey scripts, cross-platform apps, or features I've not noticed or am ignoring that could be used to make the process described above even more streamlined and quick.

The one caveat is that I'm looking for a more universal accessibility. A Mac OS X application might be great, but wouldn't work on my Windows thumb drive. That's why above I suggested extensions, Greasemonkey userscripts, or features of these webapps I may have missed: they can be accessed using any OS.

Also, I do definitely understand that one way of streamlining would be to cut down the number of feeds I browse. Still, I'm at a number I like right now. I do periodically weed through and prune, though.

Also, how do you browse-and-blog?

Making Posting to a Blog Incredibly Easy ... How to?

How to go about accomplishing certain things regarding posting to a blog, but in a certain way ... would like Mefites' advice. I was surfing one day, and came across this in someone's blog entry.

I cannot find a good unobtrusive and reliable way to post to my blog. For short blurbs, I want to be able to do it from anywhere, but using my cellphone is too inconvenient (I abandoned my PDA a few years ago). I could use Google Docs, but (1) it doesn't work with Safari and (2) I wasn't able to make it post to my MovableType-based blog. I also want to be able to "reply" to other people's blog posts on my own blog, but trackbacks seem to have disappeared from all but a few blogs. Third, I had been working on a few longer articles and I realized that (1) I don't want to mix meaningless musings with longer better thought out pieces on the same blog and (2) I don't know how to tell if the article is finished, so I keep revising it over and over and over.

I thought the iteration of these problems was rather insightful, and, furthermore, I realized these problems were ones I ran into upon my own blog (aside from the "(2)" in the third question). Yet I really can't think of effective ways to address these problems. Any of your thoughts on these issues and possible solutions would be appreciated.

(No self-link, but my blog is WordPress, if that matters, and if you need the URL, click on my name below; the address is in my profile.)

Blogger posts + tables = where has the rest of my text gone?

I have a blog. In that blog, I post some data to a very simple table. 3 columns, up to 5 rows. However, I can't make the HTML work so that the text in the 3rd column wraps correctly. Column 1 and 2 have maybe 10 letters of data in each. Column 3 contains the explanation of the data in 1 and 2, which can (theoretically) be any length of data. I have the table set up so:

screenshot

The table columns will automatically adjust to give column 3 enough space, but sometimes the text in #3 goes "off the page". How do I set things up so the text doesn't need more space than is available.

Another problem I have is that every single posting with the above code has a huge gap between the heading of the post, and the start of the table. Why is this?

I'm using the Minima template, on the new Blogger, with Firefox 2. Nobody else ever views the blog, so I'm not concerned about making it work with any other browser than Firefox.

Question about non-responding replies to Craig's list posting

I have a question about replies that i got to a craig's list forsale posting. I dont use the list much. But I recently posted an ad for a furniture, twice. I noticed I would get replies asking if i still have the unit and they are interested etc. I then reply saying yes and they can come by and look at it. After that I dont get any replies. This has happened with multiple responders. I even tried contacting them again from an alternate email address thinking may be my email was being blocked or something. It was of no avail.

Can somebody who is better familiar with craig's list tell me what is going on. I reposted the ad twice and at least one of these people(or bots) replied to both the postings. I did not include my email address in the post. Are they trying to get my email address for spam, etc ? Or is it just coincidences.

Look out, world

How can I get over my confidence issues and find a girlfriend (or boyfriend) in Ft. Wayne, Indiana? Although there are people who care for me, like the person posting this question, and people in town with whom I sometimes go out and consume alcohol, I have still managed to convince myself that I am unattractive and have no friends.

I'm not physically unattractive but sometimes I sorta have a bad attitude. I like to talk about how I'm gonna kill myself because nobody loves me and I'll never find a girlfriend and I'll never lose my virginity and stuff like that. So, how can I turn my life around? By the way I don't want to go to college. Also if enough people seem interested, maybe I will post a pic. Seriously though, I am both cute and clever but just too cranky and shy and I have myself convinced I suck when really I don't. How do I get over this?

By the way, how unusual is it for a 21 year old boy to be a virgin?

Why do signs to deter trespassers use the convention "Posted: No Trespassing" when the very fact that such a sign is physically posted makes the use of the word "Posted" redundant? I do realize that in some locations, the verbiage of the signs are mandated by law -- but that doesn't explain why the use of the term posted *would* be law, when it's self-evident that a posted sign is... posted.

Now that Craigslist is not free, is there another board where can I find someone to help me with a small NYC-based php/mysql/odbc project? I don't want to use google groups - I'll be spammed for years...

Is there any etiquette to hotlinking images from third parties?

This comment got me thinking: is there a standard etiquette for displaying inline images from third-party servers on either private blogs or community sites like MeFi? Is it always appropriate, never appropriate, or only appropriate depending on the source and the server from which the image originates?
