How do I balance an accelerated hiring timeline, banked vacation time, and an upcoming bonus? I'm expecting to be offered a job, and the hiring manager wants someone in the role in days-not-weeks. The performance year at my current job is just wrapping up, and bonuses won't be paid out until mid-October. I also want to take the vacation time I've earned. How can I make this work best for me? I started working at my current software engineering job in March. People have treated me well and been good to me, but the job is boring and has little chance for growth. Is it too early to apply for internal positions at the same employer (and will people be upset)? [more inside] [more inside]

For the past few months, I've been experiencing a lot of back pain during sleep and when I wake up. I've tried many solutions - sleeping on top of a bunch of blankets (to make my firm mattress softer), sleeping with a pillow between my legs (helps a little but not much, it seems), putting a towel under my hips, sleeping on my back, sleeping on my stomach, sleeping on my side. In a nutshell, I'm losing it and really could use some help. Anyone with a super-sensitive back who has found a comfortable way to sleep??? I have scoliosis, so that's one thing to keep in mind. Also, if one of the strategies I mentioned above worked for you, pleae don't hesitate to mention it - maybe you tried it in a different way than I did! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

Anyone know of a reliable way to quickly & accurately track position over a 200 foot range? I am trying to get a camera to follow a moving subject over medium range distances outdoors.I have seen several products on sparkfun that transmit/receive RF, but do not know if they will work for position tracking. THANKS!

I have an interview scheduled for a new job. The company I'm interviewing with supposedly has a reputation of pigeonholing applicants into positions they either did not apply for or are unqualified for. How do I tactfully insist on being considered for the position I applied for? [more inside]

If you've ever approached a company and impressed them enough to create a postion for you, I'd love to hear how you went about it.
