Making the best, fluffiest popcorn at home

I am seeking the absolute most top-notch way to make popcorn at home. Ideally, it would be air-popped, though I could use a little oil if needed. Looking for recommendations on both cooking method/devices, popcorn types, and any other accoutrements. [more inside]

Non-sticky honey popcorn

A few years ago I was in Thailand and bought a bag of popcorn from a vendor. It was sweeter than I expected, and when I asked what was on it I was told it was just honey. It was light, and not at all sticky, even though the weather was insanely hot and humid. How can I recreate this at home? [more inside]

Please help me find a thank you gift for popcorn lovers in Toronto

They have a popcorn maker. They have popcorn buckets, bags, and scoops. But I'm in search of a popcorn-related gift I can get some popcorn-heads in Toronto, ideally by tomorrow. These people are popcorn purists and it's really hard to get them anything popcorn-related that they don't already have. Their holy grail is "savoy salt," which I've never even heard of. What do I get these folks? Where might I get it?

Song ID: something about liking/not liking popcorn?

It's sung by a woman in some kind of retro rock-y style that I can't quite articulate. It's a list of foods that girls either.. like or don't like, and the chorus is about popcorn.. I think. Challenge: pretty sure this is from a Portland, OR band, as I heard this on the local Portland-centric radio station KZME. [more inside]

Tell me about your favourite microwave popcorn!

I really like microwave popcorn. I make it by hand too, and sometimes via this paper bag method, but I sort of really like factory processed microwave popcorn. Especially kettlecorn! I love fresh fairground kettlecorn, but I also really like microwave "kettlecorn," which is a different beast altogether. ...and I'd like your recommendations!

Popcorn is staining my stainless pan!

Cooking popcorn with vegetable oil is discoloring my stainless steel pan. It leaves a dark yellowish stain both inside and outside around the rim. Is this a reaction with the metal? Is there a way to avoid this happening? And most importantly, is there a way to remove this discoloration? Scrubbing does nothing.

Popcorn Duck

I like savoury popcorn. I don't like only putting salt on it. I also don't live near somewhere that sells the balsamic vinegar-flavoured stuff they have near work. Is there a way of buying flavour powders online? Or are there easy home recipes for nice savoury popcorn? I live in the UK so it'd have to be available or ship to here.

popcorn toppings

I want to perk up my popcorn. What toppings that are probably sitting around the house, or are easily found at a typical grocery store, do you all find the yummiest? Wet, dry, shake, stir, good-for-you, bad-for-you (real butter!!), I don't care, just suggest anything that tastes good and is readily available.

How to pop mini corn cobs?

A month ago we purchased decorative mini corn cobs that looked a lot like the "mini indian corn" on this page. Attached to the cobs were instructions (now misplaced) that gave instructions to soak and then pop the corn. The decorative phase for the corn is waning, and we're ready to pop it. How? [more inside]

90's tv show skit about deviled eggs?

Mystery TV show segment - in the early 90's (I think) there was an American cable television show which had a cutaway gag about the history of movie theater popcorn. The joke was that before popcorn was invented, concession stands sold deviled eggs. Help me find it! [more inside]

Where can I buy Cheese Popcorn like the Boy Scouts Sell?

Where can I buy Cheddar and/or White Cheddar cheese popcorn just like the Boy Scouts sell? It was GREAT and now it's too late to buy more from them. It is also rather expensive. I realize I'm probably going to have to buy mail-order. The ready-made stuff I've tried from the supermarket doesn't have the same taste and it always seems like it is half-stale.

Microwave Popcorn

I bought some microwave popcorn that pops fine at work (a newer microwave with a popcorn button), but at home, with popcorn from the same box, I end up with a shriveled bag. The microwave at home isn't so new as to have a popcorn button, but it's not totally ancient either. I'm guessing there's some trick to it that involves NOT following the instructions provided on the bag, but I have no idea what they might be. Any ideas?
