How to prepare for a dr appointment addressing tumtum issues

How should I prepare for an appointment that will address stomach/digestion issues? Do I eat tons of stuff I know makes me feel horrible just so my doctor can see all the symptoms in action or do I keep eating like I do now, which is avoiding what I know makes me feel bad? [more inside]

Sh!t or get off the pot - Pooping in the presence of others

I, female age 35, cannot poop when others are in the house or when other people are in a public bathroom. (And I loathe even going in a public bathroom.) This means that when there are houseguests, I end up constipated. I have recently been in travel situations with one other person and I end up spending the whole trip constipated. It is even worse with a newer dating partner. What can I do to relax and poop? [more inside]

Deworming for humans

[Grossness warning] I accidentally ate food that was tainted with a small amount of feces. I am concerned about parasites. How do I take care of the fallout, and what are my best human deworming options? Everything I can find on this topic (information and, annoyingly, worming tablets too) seems to be geared towards deworming dogs, cats, and horses. [more inside]

Accidental peeing and pooping in a kid: physical or emotional or what?

Could my son’s bladder and bowel control problems be a manifestation of emotional distress? Or could there be something physical going on that we’re missing? We’re going to the doctor soon, but I’d like to hear some ideas from others who might have dealt with something similar. [more inside]

Prunes are not the magical fruit.

According to this bag of prunes I'm eating, one serving only has 3 grams of fiber, which doesn't sound like very much. So (a) how did prunes get a reputation for being a cure for constipation and (b) is there something else I should be eating to get the desired effect?

Help me change my poop cycle!

How do I change my poop cycle? I used to poop every day when I woke up (6am ish) and I would usually be good until the next morning. Then I went out of the country, changed time zones, all that stuff, and now I'm back. I've been back for about 2 months but for some reason now I poop every day at about 5pm. How do I alter my cycle to poop when I want to?!

Restaurant Results

Why does eating in a restaurant make me crap my pants?

I have a generally healthy, varied diet. I can eat anything prepared at home, regardless of how rich, fatty, or spicy it is. But nearly everything from restaurants causes massive stomach upset. I have an intense need to go to the bathroom within 20 or 30 minutes of eating restaurant food - sometimes it's diarrhea, sometimes not.

I can eat junk food, fast food - even Taco Bell - without problems, which adds to my confusion about the cause. I thought it might be MSG, but the local Chinese restaurant is one of the few places I can eat, and they do use MSG. Is there one particular food additive that I'm not aware of that might be doing this? Any other ideas?
