In Manhattan. Want to swim laps.

Where to swim in Manhattan? I'm looking for a good lap pool in Manhattan, in midtown or on the upper east side.

I'm familiar with the Manhattan Swim and Athletic Club (used to be a member, but SO expensive). I am looking into the Manhattan Plaza Health Club (it's a little out of the way for me, but any member or former member insights about the club would be appreciated).

Are there any other swimming pools that I should look into that are comparably large (75 ft long or so, not the wimpy, tiny pools that the New York Health and Racquet Clubs/Equinox have)?

How many pools does your state have?

Say I want to gather statistics on above ground pool ownership in the states. Is there some way to find and aggregate this kind of retail information? I've googled all kinds of phrases that I thought might yield something but to no avail. I'm looking for hard numbers rather than very general consumer reporting. Does such a resource exist? Some sort of big brother type database?

I'm out of my element here, and yes this is for work. Go ahead and kick me if this is the sort of thing people pay lots of money for etc., etc.

Swimmingly In Los Angeles

Where are there good public swimming pools in Los Angeles area? I am looking to get into a pool for a daily swim and am wondering what public or privately owned pools are available in Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Westside area? Also, is there such a thing as non-chlorinated pools?

rosacea + swimming

I have rosacea which is kept in check with daily applications of MetroGel (metronidazole). I also like swimming as exercise. The problem is that swimming in a chlorinated pool leaves my nose area bright red, almost like a chemical burn. It takes at least 2 weeks of extra care on my part to reduce this redness. What are some things I can do to protect my face when swimming? Or will I have to give up swimming altogether? (Note that other types of exertion, such as jogging or cycling, do not result in this type of redness)

Pool clubs in Chicago?

Pool clubs in Chicago? Is there a place I can pay for pool access for non-lap pool usage? I know hotels used to charge to use their pools but they dont seem to do this anymore or do they? Essentially Id love to have access to a nice hotel pool without actually paying for the room iteself.

The park district pools are okay but there are too many kids and adult swim hours are pretty limited.

Thanks.

public swimming pool myth

When I was a kid there was this idea that if you pissed in a public swimming pool the water around you will turn blue and follow you around. Today I asked a few friends and everyone got told the same thing. Is this just a myth invented to stop kids from doing this or is it real? Inquiring minds need to know.

Outdoor swimming pools in Charlotte, NC? I'm going to have an 8-hour layover in Charlotte on Monday. I would love to spend that time at an outdoor swimming pool that has shower and locker facilities. Can anyone recommend one? Many thanks...

Are there any good scoring systems for running a NCAA bracket pool?

MarchMadnessFilter: Are there any good scoring systems for running a NCAA bracket pool? I'm running a bracket pool in my dorm, and I was just looking for a good way to score it. There will be probably 20ish people, at a 5 dollar buy-in. Any scoring system will do, but I really want to find a way to incorporate upset-wins into the points system.

Thanks in advance!
