Hawaii Hotels with Zero Entry Pools

We are looking to stay in Kauai (or possibly another Hawaiian island) for a week in the spring and am having the hardest time finding a place to stay that has a zero-entry pool, a separate sleeping area, a/c, and is priced under $300/night. Are these criteria unreasonable or is there hope? [more inside]

What to do with an unused pool, in California

My parents have an inground pool that fills a significant part of their back yard. Their pump is dying or dead, and replacing the pump will be a significant investment for them, moreso that neither of them use the pool much. Add the current California drought, and the pool looks like more of an unnecessary expense than a benefit. Any thoughts on what should they do with it? [more inside]

B&B/Hotel w/a Nice OUTDOOR Pool Near NYC?

We've got a nine-month-old who's never really been in a pool. We'd like to plan a short two or three day vacation built around playing with him in an *outdoor* pool somewhere that's within a three hour drive of NYC. Please recommend a hotel or bed and breakfast that's got a nice, baby-friendly pool. Before the baby, we stayed at resorts in Arizona and California that'd be perfect for this sort of thing, but we can't seem to find anything similar on the east coast. Thanks!

looking for kung-fu film with underground temple with boiling pool

OK, this is deep in the level of cheezy memories. In the 1970s or early 1980s they used to broadcast totally rotten kung fu movies on television on Saturday mornings. I'm trying to remember a specific one. I know there are like millions of these that were churned out, so this may be like looking for a needle in a haystack, but here goes. It should limit the search that it was 1) in color 2) probably made between 1960 to 1981 3) included an intense fight scene that took place in a kind of underground temple (maybe?) that had as its central feature a pool of water (or acid?) that was boiling and had a kind of statue or something in the middle of it 4) there was a kind of dwarf or midget who had a prominent role. Can anyone remember this crazy film?

Why do non-swimmers hang out by the pool at my gym?

I can't believe I'm wasting my question on this, but I've been wondering about it for months. So at my gym, there is a "wet area" with a lap pool, a sauna, a steam room and a jacuzzi. What puzzles me is that there are people (usually men) who sit for long periods of time on the bench in the wet area. Some of them are still in their gym clothes, which makes me think they're not, like, taking intervals between sauna and steam or whatever. They definitely do not swim. They just sit there on the bench. [more inside]

Is it worth thousands of dollars to fix an inground pool?

Is it worth thousands of dollars to fix an inground pool? I've own my home in northern Delaware for less than a year. One of the reasons I bought this house was it had a pool. I bought the house when it was in foreclosure, so I knew there would be many repairs to do to the house, pool included. The inground pool is about 30ft by 10ft by about 7ft deep. Estimates to repair the pool liner and large filter are in the neighborhood of 5-6k. [more inside]

Pool Solar Cover Reel Recomendation

Can anyone recommend a good Solar Cover Reel for an 18'x36' size pool? All the reviews seem bad and the industry as a whole doesn't seem on the up and up. I'm currently looking for one that will go over my low profile diving board and have found the following one for $399 that seems the best one I can find. - "http://www.solarcovers.com/product/solar-cover-reels/commercial-reels/commercial-grade-reel/commercial-grade-solar-reel-for-pools-up-to-20-ft-wide-locking-casters-included" - Can you let me know what you recommend for a different one or what your opinion is of the one I found? I hate to spend sooo much money on something that might not be up to par. Thanks!
