I don't want to devote my life or income to this and i'm only doing it because i think i ought to=i am lazy. Comments? Suggestions? Need to know? Sarcasm? Thanks^_^ [more inside]

My girlfriend and I want to do that 'public display of commitment' thing, but we don't want to get married
. Heterosexual Civil Partnerships
are not yet available in the UK. Can we do it elsewhere with legal status? Or should we wait? [more inside]

Why have the Lib-Dems completely crashed in the polls, to the benefit of Labour, yet the Conservatives have hardly been scratched? Any links to informed and insightful commentary explaining why the Lib-Dems are wearing the opprobrium for the UK austerity program would be appreciated.

I'm very angry about what's happening in the UK right now, including-but-not-limited-to: the unnecessarily savage and unequal budget cuts, the privatisation of our education, health and police systems, the scapegoating of vulnerable groups and the dishonesty and cynicism of the Conservative and Liberal Democrat politicians involved. Other than protesting, what active, concrete action can I take to fight or correct these wrongs? [more inside]

I'm a dude going to marry a dude in New York State. Said dude I am going to marry is a resident alien from the UK. Will the UK recognize the marriage? Does he become an American Citizen by marrying him? Does that counteract his UK citizenship? What are my rights, here?

Did anyone claim that "Enron couldn't happen in the UK"?
I'm looking for actual examples of politicians/commentators/business leaders stating that an Enron-style collapse couldn't happen in the UK due to stronger corporate governance culture here than in the US. [more inside]

Is there a site which keeps track of what politicians have said, and flagged up instances where what they have said was a falsehood at the time of speaking? Preferably UK-centric.

I run a small, clunky UK political blog. It needs a New Year spruce up. I love blogging but am as near as you get to being technically illiterate.
Fellow Brit bloggers are going to help me with the techie stuff but I need to give them a design specification. I don't really know where to begin. What goes into a good design spec and can you point me to examples of other well designed blogs?

If Blair called for a referendum in Northern Ireland on joining Eire, which side would win? Has the higher birth-rate of Catholics made a difference? Is the increasing paramilitary disarmament indicative of a political climate in which a democratic handover could take place with an acceptably low level of violence?
